All in all, it had been an interesting morning. Ikutsuki hadn't expected to wake up that day to find an Evoker on his bedside table, of all things in any place, and after a day of monitoring the network, he'd seen that he'd not been alone when it had come to receiving an unexpected gift from home. Yet, why an Evoker? He'd seen pets returned to masters, children reunited with trinkets -- it was all very fascinating, and he was almost amused that the Core seemed to think he had some sentimental attachment to his research; he would find it downright hilarious if it weren't true. He was a man of science, and he was meant to keep his work detached from his emotions. Today, however, he felt anticipation, excitement, almost, at seeing the monsters of the Darkness in their natural habitat again, instead of through the screens, eyes, lives of others.

He would never have any special powers of his own, no matter how many tried to convince him that he might, but that was alright. There was more than enough people in this city who possessed extraordinary abilities which Ikutsuki was also most eager to play spectator to. He didn't need to be anybody special. He just needed to wait. A little longer than he had planned to, if all that had taken place back home were to be taken into account, but that was all right. Patience would be its own reward in the end.

The man he would be accompanying today was named Heiwajima Shizuo. Curiously, his powers, of what he'd mentioned to Ikutsuki, seemed to correlate to his emotional state. Perhaps Ikutsuki shouldn't have been so surprised, considering what he was used to at home. Apathy Syndrome ... turning people into naught but shells ... the more this trend of emotional correlation recurred, the more proactive he was tempted to be, moreso than he had been at home. To indulge his own curiosity, and also out of necessity. There was no corporation for him to fall back on, yet, no team of malleable youths to influence. But that was all right. He had never been opposed to the idea of another mystery to keep him awake most nights.

The night was cold, and the sirens (he'd triple-checked the time, to be sure), would be sounding in less than five minutes. Shivering slightly as he pulled his jacket more tightly around himself, he approached the Starter Apartments, sure to keep an eye out for anyone who might appear to be his escort. And if he bailed on Ikutsuki -- well, at least he could find shelter in the complex, somehow, or find someone to help him.
