Who: Godot and Maya When: December 18th, evening Where: Skye Medical Center Summary: Godot visits Maya in the hospital and brings a surprise. Warnings: Diabetes.
[Being in the hospital so has long has been taking a toll on Maya - and the fact that she's very close to being discharged isn't helping, surprisingly. She doesn't know what she's going to do or where she's going to go when she's out, and even though she's overjoyed her sister is here, she feels all her insecurities bubbling to the surface. The fact that they haven't really talked isn't helping, either. Godot has still been with her in the hospital (although less frequently) and she can't help but wonder - is she standing in the way of the two of them?]
[Either way, the last couple of days she's been keeping to herself and pretending to sleep as the depression started to set it. No such luck now. But she can't greet him that way so she manages a slightly weaker grin (and promptly tries to justify it)]
Hey, Mr. Godot. I'm awake, I'm just kind of tired.
[When she catches sight of the kitchen - her expression is oddly mixed. On one hand, it's adorable. On the other hand, feeling like a mouse to a cat while Grimmjow tormented her has destroyed her liking for them. She draws back that bit she had been leaning in, but still looks interested - of course there's also that she doesn't want to be rude to him]
[He frankly expected her to squeal more. Maybe Maya wasn't a cat person. Godot, however, despite his usual tough image, clearly enjoys the little guy clinging to his hand and purring softly.]
Found him in the rain on the way home from work. The vet says he's a little starved and a little sniffly, but it's nothing I can't fix.
[Maya tries not to smile at that image, but fails.]
I told Nick you were a prosecutor with a heart of gold when he first got here, but he didn't believe me. The joke's on him, though, 'cause now I have decisive evidence!
[She lets out a little startled "Ah!" when he does, leaning back nervously. She considers picking him up with her good hand to give him back, but suddenly worries he'll scratch her]
Ah, n-no, you should hang on to him! He definitely likes you better!
The worst he'll do is soak up a little warmth. And even then, he'll give it back.
[Maybe she really isn't a cat person. He doesn't seem phased, though, reaching over to scratch the kitten's head with a few fingers. The kitten purrs loudly and tries to find footing on Maya's lap.]
[After a little hesitation, she reaches up with her good hand to try and nudge the kitten gently towards him]
C'mon kitty, go to your daddy. He wants to snuggle you. He really wants to snuggle you. And he's a lot better at snuggling than I am, so head over there, okay?
Hey now, I don't believe that one. [YOU'LL PET HIS CAT AND LIKE IT. He leans on his elbow and watches the kitty on her lap.]
[The kitten nudges against Maya's hand, then seems to take this as her petting him, purring loudly and nuzzling her. After one nudge, he sort of flops over and continues purring.]

Sorry I haven't visited in a bit. It's been a busy couple of days.
Brought you a surprise, though.

[She can't help but brighten up at the sound of a "surprise" despite everything. Her eyes light up a bit]
A surprise?! What is it?

Promise not to tattle on me?

I never tattle on people who bring me surprises!
That's one of my rules.

[Then he opens his coat, where in an inside pocket, a tiny black kitten is curled up. Godot carefully pulls him out of the pocket and into his hands.]
He's pretty tired too.

Are you going to keep him?

[Without further ado, Godot sets the kitten down in her lap.]
I was thinking I liked the name Vladimir.

[She looks a little startled, but... then, she tries to hide a grin at the kitten's antics. IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE]
What are you doing, you dork? C'mon, get up. Daddy's right over there. [She moves her hand a little aways from the kitten to point at Godot]
