[Open Log] ZIPS Arcade

Dec 11, 2010 14:33

Who: Open to all!
When: Saturday, all day (Door close for all-nighter marathoning, 10 minutes pre-siren)
Where: ZIPS Technotainment Arcade, Sector 2
Summary: SERO unveils it's geeky paradise to the public. Have you got game? Come play!
Warnings: (To be added as they arise?)

It's a seven-story titan of gamer-nerd glory, only two blocks from the Underground Mall and with an entrance line queue that stretched out the doors and around the corner.

Anyone who's ever accused SERO of being a bunch of stiff-shirted scientists hasn't ever seem them cut loose- out in full force today, corporate youth piles the glittering arcade, affiliation photo-IDs out and eager to receive bonus game tokens at the door. ZIPS has been highly anticipated at Hillsdale for several months now, heavily promoted on campus. Most students are going for a break, between finals, or as a reward for finishing that last term paper early.

The mood is bright, competitive, in high-charged fun. There are vending machines dispensing a wide variety of snack foods, sugar-rush drinks, 'reflex enhancers', and machines where you can load your tokens and game credits onto a scannable wristband that saves your best personal scores along with it.

The complex boasts three floors of traditional arcade games, a full range of virtual reality experiences, Battle-Mecha simulation pods, a bring-your-own robotics brawling ring, a large anti-gravity chamber, a sprawling lounge lit entirely by blacklights, a high-speed cybercafe, and Siren's Port's one and only sprawling 12,000 sq. foot Laser Tag arena...and of course, a gift shop for all kinds of logo-stamped merchandise.
