and they say afternoons are boring.

Who: Claire Bennett and Shiroe Rei Seki.
When: Saturday, after the SERO vs Newcomer incident.
Where: Outside of a cafe, off to a very unspecial lake.
Summary: Shiroe jumps at the chance to send someone who's radioactive-resistant into a radioactive zone. Also to maybe figure out important things about the Core. But mostly the sending-Claire-into-poisonous-waters bit.
Warnings: spoiler - they never make it.

Everything was, surprisingly, just fine. The backpack cut into his shoulders a bit, being weighed down with a laptop and various empty test tubes, but it was by far ignorable in the face of everything else. Everything else, again, being just fine.

The route didn't take long to cover on normal days, and this time around, he was nearly running -- because with a breach like that, a break like that, a moment to actually do something that wasn't related to saving people or things was perfect. The experimental side piqued his curiosity, too - a girl who could withstand radiation, really - but mostly his mind was glued in to the Core.

The best part about it was probably the fact that he didn't want to return home at all.

But that was neither here nor there; he kept his mind open (feeling for others), kept his attention relatively focused. Managed to get to the indistinguishable cafe (really, it was: its owners could turn invisible) in record time and not look the least bit more tired for it. Which wasn't saying much, given that he generally looked depleted and about to fall over, but it was somehow unnoticeable in comparison to the pure energy he was running off. Now, to find a girl who was most likely nervous, scared, concerned, blond and maybe - probably not - angry. That described a few people, unfortunately.
