Summary: Joker's put a hit out on Light--this is going to be a terrible afternoon.

Light was losing his temper, under far too much stress to handle the way other people insisted on treating him. Edgeworth's rejection he could almost handle, but Claire's response to learning the truth had cut rather deeply, and now things were only piling on top of that. Near and Mello, and now L. The vultures were circling, many of them wanting him to fall because he was a monster and deserved nothing less, and others wanting him to fall for their own sick delight. The Joker was one of those people, laughing as things fell apart around his ears. Honestly, he should probably have called on Jubilee's offered favour last night, considering how he'd felt, but pride had got in the way.
A restless morning was spent going between lectures, a lunchtime studying in the hall looking out on the bleary day, and when Light could stand the inactivity of the afternoon no more he dropped his books off back at his room and pulled on a hooded coat to go out in the drizzle and wind.
A horrible day. After the blistering summer here, the winter was beginning to look just as far the opposite; cold and unpleasant. Still, it was outside, and even in such terrible weather the fresh air seemed to Light to be a release of the pressure closing about his throat. Trapped in this city, trapped in this life, trapped in this eternal loop, the fresh air seemed to set him free from that, however temporarily.
There was a little AGI owned coffee shop just outside the campus gates that charged less to university students. It'd feel like a break from the constant study, even if the coffee they served wasn't particularly good.
