[Even though he hadn't been doing more than usual, Shinjiro was worn. While he could usually occupy his thoughts with idly browsing the network and reading over other people's conversations, or spending his nights slamming the sharp(-ish) side of an axe into monster's skulls-- or the closest thing they had-- his free time was constantly spent trailing back to the same topics: Ken, October Fourth, and what the hell was he going to do. He had been sleeping less and lying awake more, or staying up to make sure Akihiko didn't do something retarded and hurt his arms more, or volunteering to take Roland, or run out to get something-- anything to get him out of the apartment or into solitude, effectively separating himself from SEES and Ken as best he could.

Honestly, he had no idea what to do, even now. Resigned, he had decided that whatever Ken decided, that was it. If Shinjiro had to die for the kid to move on, then he had to die. His few months here were nice-- hell, for once he had managed to stop hating himself for long enough to acknowledge that-- but he had no right to rob Ken of his closure just to keep living here. He had been selfish enough.

All that was left was to make sure everything was in place, just in case. With Akihiko out of commission, so reliant on the group right now, it was of extra import. If he were to die, he'd need to make sure someone could watch out for him, make sure he didn't try and go punch monsters in his grief. He needed to make sure they would all watch so Ken didn't kill himself. Make sure Minako didn't keep overworking herself, constantly. Make sure Mitsuru didn't blame herself for 'not being able to stop it.' Make sure Roland was taken care of. Make sure Yosuke was called gay at least twice a day. Back home he had been distant enough to feel that he could just fade out and no one would notice or care, but here...

He clipped on Roland's leash with a sigh, a calloused hand coming up to rub at his eyes. It was too much to think about all at once, too much to make his shoulders tense up and his insides knot. Dying was nothing he hadn't done before. He would keep reminding himself of that. For now, though, he had to do what he was good at:

Getting shit done.

He reached over to scratch Roland behind the ears, mumbling a quiet 'One sec, boy,' before standing up and grabbing his coat from the back of a chair as he approached the girls room and knocked twice.]

...Mitsuru, you there? [First thing was first. He needed to talk to Mitsuru.]
