Gambling over legos.

Who: A payingthepiper and a neargenius.
When: Forwarded to Tuesday, August 17th. Early evening.
Where: Near's apartment.
Summary: A friendly game of Hearts.
Warnings: Albinos.

Maybe it was an odd thing, to meet up with someone you only talked to once, but-- well. The only part that really struck Allen as odd was the fact that he had to eat dinner around four, instead of the usual five (it wasn't that big of a change; all it meant was a snack before joining the patrol, if possible) - and that he actually had a deck of cards in his vest pocket that he planned on using, rather than just carrying it for a possible side stop at one of the taverns. He wasn't... entirely sure what had made him offer, other than the fact the boy on the other line seemed too-- not his own age. Not something surprising (not something Allen probably should have counted as a 'reason to pay attention'), situation considered, but it was the words. He'd call it depression, if Near hadn't obviously been just fine with the way he was.

So, he'd mold himself to find a way around that.

A challenge.

With a deck of cards, Allen could promise one of those with a genuine smile on his face.

The apartment building didn't stand out, and he didn't tarry in the lobby; he followed the directions, up a few flights of stairs and into a hallway. Followed the numbers, stopped in front of what was supposed to be the right one. One would think it'd be somewhat difficult, knocking with gloves, but that wasn't true at all - three knocks later, and he was just stepping back and waiting.

It would go well, the Exorcist believed. He didn't want to be the type to underestimate, but he personally didn't see himself having to pull all of the tricks. Didn't really want to pull even one, with someone who sounded three years younger than he was.
