[There's a rowdy commotion, panicked, in the background. It's Merlotte's Bar and Grill, definitely, but the atmosphere is tense and alert. Some are scrambling for the exits, and all the overhead floodlights have just been flipped on.

Knock it off. We're going to take care of things one at a time, but we can't do that unless you calm down. You're going to hurt your friends with that darkness.

[This is bad. This is all really bad. He knew this was going to happen, something like this. Should have been better prepared. And now Sam would be-

He shuddered, to think about what could happen to Sam. The things he'd heard about.

Eventually the three Red Bull-and-Sprites came up, next to the dumpster. Swallowing back, wiping his sleeve across his mouth, the inside of his mouth too acidic and sugared-sweet, He only felt marginally better after that.

The monsters were leaving him alone. That was good. This was his alleyway, behind Merlotte's and he'd cleared a lot of them out before, night by night.

He's be pacing again, by the time Riku arrived, the scent of his darkness still prominent and restless, pausing every now and then to throw himself exasperatedly back against the grimy brick wall, kneading at his face.]

[Riku drives over on his bike, despite the Darkness and the monsters. They pay him little heed as he races down the street, helmet covering his silver hair from view. He's wearing his black coat again, blending in with the night, and it's so much easier to cut around alleyways instead of taking the streets with stop lights.

He eventually comes to Merlotte's parks a block away, walking over, following his "brother's" darkness after he discards his helmet. He finds Joe there, touching his shoulder gently.]

[He croaks back sourly, the darkness palpable- it's hurting, like it hasn't hurt in awhile. He's gotten too used to letting it go, either by Graves or by taking it out on a bunch of monsters.

But now he's just tired, and angry, and turning to Riku with a miserable frown.]

I don't think there's anything we can do but let Edgeworth try and take care of it.

[He leans against the wall and keeps Joe close, not really hugging him so much as keeping him near a more palatable dark. Riku can take some of that from him, get it away from others, but he's more concerned for his emotional stability.

I guess it's all we can do until at least tomorrow. Do you need to stay here the rest of the night?

No. I think Tifa pretty much told me I could go, as long as I didn't try and go after Sam.
