Sounds like the darkness mutation.

And...maybe you should start thinking about putting up newcomers there on discount, after the towers kick everyone out.

It's quite similar, isn't it? Strange what similarities do exist between worlds.

You think that it's an inevitability, then? That the Starter Apartments will cease to exist as we know them?

They most certainly are. [ He rolls his shoulders back in a shrug. ] They appear to adapt their form to their surroundings. Most species have regional variations.

I'm an Al Bhed. Condemned for refusing to accept Yevon's teachings. [ He shrugs. ]

Being hated does not preclude being considered necessary, however.

Yevon was Spira's main religion. Among other things, it forbade the use of any advanced technology, and taught its followers to embrace death.

The Al Bhed, needless to say, did not think much of that.

Oh. Like the Jenova Church. You didn't just fake i- Well, I guess it's hard to fake loving death...

Why didn't it let you use technology? Are Al Bhed like moogles?

A thousand years before my time, machina were commonplace. However, due to a rather unfortunate series of circumstances, they came to be regarded as a symbol of arrogance and reliance on the material world.

Well, or so the official version of the story goes. In reality, they wished to keep a fearful and compliant population under their control.
