[Dour Himawari is dour. She holds a small cat to her shoulder and neck, sitting back on a couch that isn’t hers. The cat sleeps while she talks to the NV]

He’s gone again. [There is a moment, her jaw works, sets, and then she just sighs.] I’m not even sure how long he’s been gone this time. Not that long, I hope ( Read more... )

They can't do that! They can't take away the apartments! Especially not after so long--there has to be something that can be done to prevent them! People rely on the apartments!

Exactly, Tamaki! I don't want to see them sitting empty, but if they are in use and we get new people here... what then? I really hope they can't take them away. There has to be something we can do.

I tried speaking with the landlord, but he is understandably very busy, and--well, reluctant to talk about it, honestly. The whole thing has upset him quite badly, I think!

But I think--well, Mr. Edgeworth might know if there is something in the law that would prevent them from acting out in this manner! Something to show that there are plenty of needy people who utilize the apartments--because even if we haven't had any recent arrivals, there are still those who opt to remain in the Tower Apartments!

I tried as well. He's in a very bad mood, but I can't blame him.

I have the feeling they won't really mind much about the people living in the apartments still. [Which is sad as she actually rather liked her home here...] It wouldn't be so bad if they left at least one of the towers to us...

But they have to mind! We must have some rights, yes? Even though they don't like us, even though they hold unfair opinions about us--we still must have some basic rights! And providing us a safe place to live--why, that's a basic necessity, especially in a city that has such nighttime dangers!

I don't know. Sometimes I wonder if we have rights at all. Perhaps if we took false names and blended in to pretend to be someone we're not... someday we might get the same rights as others? But right now I question it. They act as if we are a plague.

No, we can't take false names! We have to do this ourselves, as ourselves--that's the only way that anything will ever be accomplished!

And it's not everyone that treats us badly! It's just--an unfortunate number, but... Even so! We must stay strong, because we will persevere. We have to! And we must have some rights--why, everyone does! We just have to learn how they define them, so we can better understand.

[Have a very small smile hearing all this. Awww, Tamaki, you are the first to make her come back to her old self, smiling again. A bit sadly, but with a bit more cheer then before. A determined nod.]

Thank you, Tamaki. You're right! There is a good number of people out there that support us. Perhaps we do have some form of rights somewhere. I wonder if one of the lawyers around here would know about the rights we do hold. There has to be something. Perhaps we can put that into information to educate everyone on.

[That's okay, Himawari, he's smiley enough for both of you. Though it's a smile of determination, right now!]

I'll look into it, don't worry! You can count on me! And we'll figure this out--and we won't allow anyone to spend any time on the streets! Why, I still have an apartment at the Tower Apartments myself, one that I don't use. I will gladly let out that room to a Newcomer--and any additional space in my house.

Even if they do wrest these Towers from us, we will take care of one another. So don't worry!
