[No one can see anything yet, just a wall and a hunched back. John's dropped a pen on the floor. Once he retrieves it, he sits up, a man with short brown hair and a red jumper appearing to everyone on the network.]So Sherlock and I finally have a flat together. I'm so glad to be out of that hell hole and something with proper Darkness protection. ( Read more... )

[Dryly.] Surprisingly, some of the slaves are even voluntary.

Now that I don't understand, something I can't comprehend.

It's considered a legitimate way to pay off your debts here--any kind of debt. You'll find that many criminals use slavery or service to a company as a way to pay for their crimes, too.

As if my opinion of this city couldn't get any worse.

It works. Something has to. Have you tried to police a city run on superpowers recently?

I don't really see how superpowers and sex clubs are causes and effects of each other.

We were talking about sex slaves--what problem do you have with the clubs now? It's a small island, people need something to do. Not much room for extra prison space, either; we're all stuck with each other

[Oh boy. Here we go. There's a pause for a moment or two before John opens his mouth to respond.]

What's my problem?

I'm a man who enjoys sex about as much as the next one and a man can go to as many strip clubs as he wants, but the exploitation of those fallen on hard times that a sex club builds its business on is deplorable. Exploitation of the young, the down-trodden, and those who made bad business deals.

And with these murders, these owners obviously don't give two shits about their slaves. The mentality is that they'll get another one to replace the victim. They're not going into the business voluntarily -- they are given no other option to pay off their debt.

That's my problem.

[He's beet red in the face and shaking slightly.]

The actions of the one doesn't mirror the actions of all, and regardless, it's legal here. Sadly, that's whether you like it or not.

Legal or not, it should be stopped.

And if it isn't our place to interfere in it?

I don't give a damn; I will interfere.
