It varies per person. Some people gain healing abilities, others gain invulnerability or awesome strength. I can only guess that it has to do with the radiation from the Core.

Exactly our problem. We've had numerous counts of powers appearing in people who don't need any sort of help like that.

The locals have powers too, possibly inherited from their time spent in the city around the Core. They're just as much of an issue as fellow Newcomers, regardless of scruples.

No experiment of the sort has been conducted, as far as I'm aware. It's entirely possible, though.

I see.

I had thought the Core's effects would be similar to that of medicines, altering a man's state until it reached a dangerous limit. But I suppose such an idea would be difficult to prove.
