[whatever Vanitas had intended to say is overpowered by a stern female voice and the clunks of someone fumbling with the NV, you should know better than to use your phone during detention of all things, young man; you're setting yourself up for another week's worth, and-- a whir, then a click as the NV shuts off. good going, Terra, you just helped add some sweet old lady to Vanitas' hit list.]

[After his initial confusion clears up, he's left with a strange feeling of... smugness? That sure wasn't what he meant to do when he chose the voice option, but hey, two thumbs up sweet old teacher lady he'll someday be partially responsible for getting offed. You're awful, Vanitas. Awful-er than Aqua ever was.]

[unlike Aqua, he doesn't mind it-- he probably takes an obnoxious amount of pride in his personal awful. Vanitas huffs into the NV; Terra got on his nerves and it's starting to show. that's more or less the real reason he called back.]

No. [but to an extent, really. that's his pride you're chipping away at, Terra-- he may be Xehanort's pawn in the larger game he's playing, and he may be well aware of this, but Vanitas also likes to think he's coming along for the ride willingly.

So what's he trying to achieve with this? Did he even tell you?

It's a "learning experience."

[but not the things one would learn from a textbook; Vanitas' tone implies that well enough. he's not there to learn how to socialize, either-- more like take advantage of a large group of teenagers' emotional shortcomings. the negativity in that building is almost palpable without Vanitas making it so.]
