You know? I thought the old man's brains were finally starting to melt out his ears, but this place actually isn't so bad. These people are just awful.

[random observation? excuse to take a written crack at old bald Xehanort? not so much, and maybe so, respectively. a few minutes after that obnoxiously vague text, the feed suddenly flicks on to ( Read more... )

What's Xehanort got against the schools here?

[hardee har har, Terra.]

You could always enroll yourself or Ventus here, you know. They teach you how to tie your own shoes and everything.

[He's really wondering that, too. Did one of the teachers insult the guy? Mock the goatee? Recommend a hair piece? He knows Xehanort is a dark, evil man, but this a new level of cruel and unusual from him.]

My shoes don't have laces. [But never mind that. Back to glowering. Verbally.] What's Xehanort planning? Why did he put you in a school?

That explains a lot, actually. But I'm--

[whatever Vanitas had intended to say is overpowered by a stern female voice and the clunks of someone fumbling with the NV, you should know better than to use your phone during detention of all things, young man; you're setting yourself up for another week's worth, and-- a whir, then a click as the NV shuts off. good going, Terra, you just helped add some sweet old lady to Vanitas' hit list.]

[... but he calls back several hours later, sounding rather perturbed.] Idiot.

[After his initial confusion clears up, he's left with a strange feeling of... smugness? That sure wasn't what he meant to do when he chose the voice option, but hey, two thumbs up sweet old teacher lady he'll someday be partially responsible for getting offed. You're awful, Vanitas. Awful-er than Aqua ever was.]

I'm not the one using my phone during detention.

[He rather likes that word.]

[unlike Aqua, he doesn't mind it-- he probably takes an obnoxious amount of pride in his personal awful. Vanitas huffs into the NV; Terra got on his nerves and it's starting to show. that's more or less the real reason he called back.]

Not my fault I'm stuck in that place with a sack of losers.

No... That would be your Master's fault, right? You have to do what he tells you.

No. [but to an extent, really. that's his pride you're chipping away at, Terra-- he may be Xehanort's pawn in the larger game he's playing, and he may be well aware of this, but Vanitas also likes to think he's coming along for the ride willingly.

except for when it comes to going to school. he huffs again.]

You of all people should know how calculated every little thing Baldy says and does is.

I know.

[Or he likes to think he does.]

So what's he trying to achieve with this? Did he even tell you?

It's a "learning experience."

[but not the things one would learn from a textbook; Vanitas' tone implies that well enough. he's not there to learn how to socialize, either-- more like take advantage of a large group of teenagers' emotional shortcomings. the negativity in that building is almost palpable without Vanitas making it so.]
