[Vanille is holding up a rose of her own, this one white, looking very mischievous. She has a card, too, with a familiar message about love from afar and a secret admirer.]

Soooo, who sent it? [Hee!] Was it anyone on the network? You can say so if you want. I won't tell a soul, promise! [Never mind that this is a public post. WHATEVER.] I'd love ( Read more... )

I heard one or two people got those, actually.

Valentines Day is a celebration of love and all that other mushy... ness by the way.

Yeah, Yazoo did! Anyone else I might know? Did you get one, Rochelle?

A celebration of love? This city really does have such nice holidays!

I dunno if you'd know them, but I could name a few off the top of my head. [LAFF.] Oh god, no. No, I didn't get one.

I had a feeling you might like it.

Hm, it's really interesting that so many people are getting cards like this!

Well, I just think it sounds like a very sweet holiday, but I suppose not many other people do.

Yeah, all the murders are really setting the tone well. Particularly the old couple.

[She looks at once flustered, abashed, and guilty.]

Well, no, of course not. I didn't mean that.

[Pause... oops. Sheepish.]

Not to break the mood or anything. It's true that we shouldn't let these things prevent us from enjoying life. [Or whatever it is happy people do.] But Valentine's Day is a pointless celebration, anyway. People who are really in love don't need anyone telling them when to celebrate it. And people who aren't don't need someone reminding them that they should be in love.

I guess not.

Well, it just seemed like a nice holiday to celebrate love, that's all. It's not like anyone who celebrates it then can't celebrate it the rest of the year too.

...Good grief, you're energetic.

You don't have Valentine's Day back home? Don't worry, you didn't miss anything. It's nothing but nonsense.

[Don't worry, her energy's been taken down a notch.]

No, I don't think so. I never heard of a holiday celebrating love on Gran Pulse or Cocoon. But it seems like such a nice idea...why do you say it's nonsense?

[He'll pretend he knows what you're talking about.]

Mostly, it's commercialism. An excuse for the stores to sell overpriced gifts and cards under the pretense of caring. People obsess over it, becoming fixated on the idea that being appreciated on Valentines expresses love - when in reality, a lot of people simply feel pressured into honoring it.

Doesn't it seem odd? If love is such a big thing, then it shouldn't need to be diminished to one day. People should be honoring it of their own will, without being prompted.

[She looks a little confused by all this.]

Oh, that's sad! No one should ever be pressured into it. It's not real love if you don't feel it truly--and if it's not always there no matter what day it is.

[Taps a finger against her chin] But...maybe a holiday for love would give someone the courage to confess her feelings! Like this person! [She waves the card.]

[SIGH. It's this time of the year again, is it? Yes, everyone's least favorite green lady had issue with cut flowers.]

It's an utterly pointless holiday. And in spite of what others may say, it tends to be a morbid one.

Who could ever find it "romantic" to end the live of a precious plant as a token of love?

[UH-OH. She walked right into that one, didn't she? Vanille glances down guiltily at the rose in her hand and hides it behind her back.]

I-I'm sorry, Ivy! I promise I won't end the life of any plants for love! Except this one just came to my door, so...

[...okay she might have felt a little bad. But only a little.]

I'm not blaming you, Vanille. I'm merely commenting on the idiocy of the men who partake in the tradition.

Still, I'd take heed in proceeding in meeting with an individual who didn't even bother speaking with you in the first place.

Oh...is it only men who do it, you think? [...Hm. She glances down at the card again for a moment.]

Well, they just sound kind of shy! The note is very nice, so I bet they're really nice in person! Well, except about hurting the rose... [Now she's confused.]

[ Blink, Blink. Kairi is holding a similar rose, and card. She glances down at it, then the video. ]

You got one too? Have you found out who sent it? [ Kairi wanted to know too! ] And Valentine's Day is a day devoted to love - it's the most romantic day of the year. Men give chocolates and roses and things, to the girls they like.

Not yet! If it is someone on the NV, I suppose they're a bit shy. But that makes three people who've gotten notes from secret admirers!

It could be - which would explain why they're not coming forward. But three? Really? So that's me, you - who's the third person? What did your card say?

Yazoo! He was talking about his earlier. Mine says, um...

[She unfolds the note and reads.]

"I have long beheld your loveliness from afar, and would like to get to know you before Valentine's Day. I would be honored if you would meet me at Miller's Ale House at 5pm tonight for dinner and some fun. A Secret Admirer."
