[ The NV shakes around as Luca tries to sit it properly on his bed. When he has it, he backs up to plop down in front of it near his pillow, a book titled The Brave Monkey Pirate clutched tightly in hand. Without another word, he begins to read: ]
"The Brave Monkey Pirate--
One day th' pirate Modi was out runnin' "air-ends" with his mom. They shopped for "grow-sir-ees" and ate peas at his favorite "rest-oo-runt".
Then the pirate Modi's mom said, "Oh yes, we need to stop off at the doctor's office for a quick checkup."
Th' doctor checked Modi's heart, his blood "press-er" and his knees.
Then he "ex-playned" that Modi would come back the next day and get a shot, t' protect him from "sker-v" or somethin'.
Th' pirate Modi did not like shots.
That "eve-uh-nin'" his father came home and Modi told him all about th' visit to the doctor.
Modi's father said, "Modi, I know of somethin' that can help you. Take this map and my fastest pirate ship and find it. Also, if you stay very still for the doctor you can have some ice cream." So Modi followed the map through the wildest seas, and climbed up "val-cane-ohs" filled with "fie-er-ey" lava, and sneaked past creatures so terrible that they will not be described in this book, until he reached an icy castle at th' top of the mountains. Inside, he found a great crab wizard on a crab wizard throne.
The crab wizard spoke these words,
"Monkey Pirate, because you have braved many "ob-stuck-els" to get here I will give you this rock. When you get a shot, you must squeeze th' rock very tightly, and count t' three. You will be "maj-i-kuh-ly" taken into th' future where the shot will be finished. Also, you can have some ice cream after."
Th' pirate Modi thanked him and sailed back home t' get some sleep. The next morning, he took the rock with him to the doctor's "off-is". Th' doctor hummed a little song and filled up Modi's shot. Modi closed his eyes very tightly, squeezed th' rock as hard as he could, and counted 1, 2...
3!
The crab wizard was right! The shot was finished.
The Brave Monkey Pirate was now "im-uun" to "sker-vy" and some other stuff. And he had ice cream on the way home.

[ as he finished, Luca closes the book, looking incredibly proud of himself. ] I can read all by myself now! [ He then moves to turn off the NV, but stops, looking like he's just realized something. ]
