[At about 4pm, there will be an alarmed hawk appearing smack-dab in the middle of the baseball diamond. Said hawk has to make a miraculous save in order not to collide with the nearest building, and he doesn't look too happy about it either

He stops cold when he hears those words ringing in his head. Gaze landing on the hawk, his head tilts a fraction. Neither the words in his head nor an animal speaking is unusual for him, though... it's been a while.
But alright, then. Answering in telepathy:

My name is Jomy. And you? Do you have a name? ]

< How are you talking to me like this? > [Not that he thinks Jomy will tell the truth, but he doesn't know how else to get to the bottom of this whole mess.]

Ah. . . I'm a psychic.
It's about the easiest he can explain it, really. And, okay, if getting a name was no-go, then:
Can only birds speak like this in your world? ]

< No.
What do you think of Andalites? > [To be honest, he's at the point where he's getting desperate. Desperate for anything that reminds him of home, or this universe, even if it's a Yeerk. It's not the best trick in a book, but ask any Yeerk what they think of Andalites and they will make a tell-tale sign. He'll be watching Jomy's reaction very closely.]

Yes, that's true. [ All of it, he adds as an afterthought. ] What about the Darkness?

I'm diurnal. > [Though that probably wasn't what Jomy was talking about.]

But - okay. ]
At night, monsters emerge out in the streets. The people here call this phenomena simply as the Darkness. A siren rings every evening to signal its onset, and another siren to signal that it's over. These monsters can be fought off and killed, but they reappear the next night, so it's often best to simply avoid being caught outside during this time.
