[Useless, that's what they are.]
I was watching an uprising of sorts on a high point over the ravine while the keyblade wielder - the original one, along with his friends - was still out gathering hearts.
But that does not matter now. I have seen the future with my own eyes.

[ It's not exactly the answer he expects, but he isn't surprised to hear it either. He's dead, he doesn't exist, he wouldn't even be (in so far as a Nobody can) without the Core, so it stands to reason that his own defeat would be followed by others. Even knowing Xemnas's strength, he's seen his carefully constructed plans fall apart. He's loyal, it's true; but he isn't blind. ]
It's over.
[ He says this matter-of-factly. It's not like he can feel anything either way so there's no point in pretending he can. Not about this. ]

[There is tension in the following silence. The First holds fast to his breath, almost as if it was the very last that would escape at any given moment. It can only go on for so much longer, and the tone he acquires now has an underlying hint of irritation to it.]

[ You could cut that tension with a knife, but after a long moment, all Xigbar does is shrug and let out a soft huff of breath, like a laugh. It's funny even though it isn't, and well, it's not like he didn't see it coming. Even so-- ]
You know where I stand.
[ He'll follow Xemnas to the ends of the earth, to the ends of every world even. It's not sentimentality (he lacks a heart to feel it with) or even fear over the fate of traitors. No-- he just enjoys watching the other work. ]

[That. Is about the most comforting thing he's ever known or heard from someone he's sort of close to. After finding out his ultimate fate back in their world, and after a year of insanity and a breakdown from Nautilus...
And still he can't show that. Not really. His posturing loosens a bit from its original rigidness on his side, but he maintains the sound of his voice.]
There is nothing else we can do...for the moment.
...Save for surviving the night, of course, but that will be dealt with.

[ Good thing he doesn't expect much, isn't it? Also, he's been doing recon and combing through the network archives since arriving so he has a few things to report. ]
Number VI and Number VIII are here, along with Number XIII, possibly Namine, the Keyblade wielders, a few others-- some from before their time.

[Even if they aren't in their fortress over the city of The World That Never Was, having these reports brings back a sense of normalcy. Nothing is said as Xigbar goes over who's present, but the thing about the Heartless...]
The game just got much more interesting. ]
Xemnas.

Took you long enough.

We're both new arrivals.

Being a new arrival was not in my agenda.

[ brb reading yer convos... hm. ]
I'm guessing this isn't the first time you've been yanked to other worlds.

No. It is not.
I have been to a city before this one. A city called Nautilus.
