[Erik is sitting on the roof, in a red seater and slacks. It was simply too noisy in the house. For those who have seen him lately - he looks better than he has in WEEKS. More well rested, less haunted, just all around better.Good morning all ( Read more... )

[After a few minutes, replies switching to video. Erik smiles, laughing softly and has the NV pointed at a pad of paper.]

That's true of most people. This island is on this dimension here. Now, there is a world outside this island - things come in from the docks. So there is a pocket universe inside this one.[He draws a large sphere on the page, and draws a second sphere inside it where the island is, roughly.]

And other universes exist. Some spherical - most are - some tube shaped, and so on. [He draws those as well]

But as they move around, they can bump into each other.

[Off feed, Erik tosses some small metal shapes, spheres, tubes, etc into the air and they slowly move, sometime bumping into each other - there is a large sphere with a smaller bubble of a different color on it floating around.]

What I believe is happening is as these universes move around and bump into each other the Core makes a little connection with the universe it bumps into. [And as the bubble touches others, a thin filament forms, leaving a link.]

And that is how we are Pulled - though that touch. The link that remains is how we are returned home, as some have been. Now, as we are tied to people we know, it's easier to Pull people who are connected to us.

[The shapes fly off and Erik turns the NV back to himself.]

Make sense?

[Griffin's still on audio, but he's paying rapt attention. When Xavier finishes, he remains silent for a minute, trying to wrap his brain around it.]

Yeah. But where's the Core come in?

The Core is what is creating that bubble, and what is forging the connections.

Oh. [Griffin sounds like he understands. Which he does... for the most part.] So I guess you're a professor or something?

No, not a professor, although I have taught physics before. Just a scientist who enjoys the field.

Enjoy... physics? Alright then. Guess everyone needs a hobby.

[Chuckle]

Don't laugh too hard - I know how to use physics to mimic teleportation.

[HEY Teleportation is his gig. >[]

Is that right?

[Well HE had an emergency, ok? :| ]

That is. Involves wormholes and electromagnetic positioning, a bit of overkill given the size of this place but...

Why, field of interest for you?

You're saying you can manipulate wormholes?

[See how artfully he dodges that question.]

[He sees your dodge.]

Just small ones, but after a fashion yes.

[Private]

I can create them, and control them.

[Well that's... kind of what like he does. He assumes. The truth is, Griffin isn't sure how his ability works. What was he supposed to do, let some mad scientist test on him? He wasn't that curious.

But he is sort of curious. Curious enough to keep on the private setting and ask this guy more questions.]

How? I mean, knowing about them and creating them are two totally different things.

There are four fundamental forces that govern everything. One - Gravity, which holds hold us to the planet and keeps things in obit. Two - Strong Nuclear Force which holds nuclei of atoms together. Three - Weak Nuclear Force which is what causes radioactive decay. And four - electromagnetism, which controls everything else.

To create a Lorentzian traversable wormhole, one must use negative mass cosmic strings to hole open both black hole - were you are departing from and what you are entering and white hole were you are arriving and what you are exiting. The negative mass cosmic strings, when connected to the two holes, form your worm hole. In order to create the holes, you must compress gravity to the point where time almost stops - the cosmic strings are what keeps you from being crushed by the gravity.

[He flips the video on for a moment, a metal globe hovering into view - it mirrors his words.]

Say you where here, [A red pin flies in and sticks itself in St Petersburg.]

And you need to be there, [A blue pin sticks itself in San Francisco.]

The fastest way to travel would be to flatten the globe, and fold it so the two points are mirroring each other, punching a hole into that space, and jumping between them. [The globe flattens, and folds so the St Petersburg was facing up and San Francisco behind it, the two pins poke through and join up]

[And back to video]

As for how I do it...it's just moving atoms and anti-atoms around, compressing some, stretching others.

[Griffin is pretty hard to silence, but this about does the trick. He's been Jumping since he was five, but he's never had a clear definition of what exactly it is that he does. Learning that his Jumps can be compared to folding the world in half is a little mind-blowing. He knows he somehow makes these holes in the world, but having a decent explanation after all these years is partially comforting. Even if he still doesn't understand it completely.

So wrapped up in these thoughts, Griffin forgets to speak for almost a couple minutes. Finally, he remembers that he's supposed to be part of a conversation.]

... Hell of a trick.

It is. Only took me eighty years to figure it out. [There's a touch of self-directed humour in his voice. Kurt's been teleporting since he was a teenager, after all.]

Fffff He has so many questions I'M SORRY limitedrun February 3 2011, 05:20:27 UTC
So... are there other people who can do it where you're from? And what about what you were doing just before? With the cans. Could you do that before the Core?
