[Silence at first. But it's not quite silence, per se---there's the obvious sounds of a crowd, and particularly large one, at that. People talking, glasses tinkling, music; it creates quite a din. Then a more familiar voice arises, in the form of Seth giggling in response to a male voice saying (in an attempt at sounding suave), "you know, Miss

---Oh! Well, in my world, people who either are in love with one another or just fancy another person either exchange gifts or spend some quality time together. There's a religious aspect to it; apparently, the holiday was named after a saint by the name of Valentine, who secretly married couples under the Christian tradition despite the Romans being in power, but the Terrans more readily acknowledge that.
The rest of us just remain in tune with the romantic and fun elements of the holiday.

Ah, I see. I suppose that explains the choice in decorations.

It's generally a really gaudy holiday. It lets people get all sentimental and touchy-feely without making fools of themselves since everyone else is doing the same thing.

Gaudy is a word for them, I suppose. They're more eye-catching than some of the Christmas decorations that I've seen.

[A mischievous giggle]
If anything, though, if Christmas is a time for reflection and giving, Valentine's is kind of a chance to be young again, wouldn't you say?

[---However, there's another pause as someone yells out in the background, "there!" and there's the sounds of rapid footsteps again. This goes on for a few minutes until there's the sound of something being thrown open and the sound of the wind, then a loud CRASH. More silence.
And that's quickly broken by Seth muttering, "ouch!" But, the weight of his last statement isn't lost on her.]
---Is that what you believe? [A fairly pained-sounding chuckle. How idealistic.] As much as I'd like to agree, in my experience, I can't say all people who've lived for a very long time really deserve that kind of happiness.
[Herself included.]
Especially when you factor in the things they've done throughout their lives.

It's not an impossibility, however. [ No one should pass judgment whether another deserves happiness or not either.
In either case- ] Regardless, are you. . . alright?

[She's going to leave it at that, as well. No point in arguing over something philosophical---especially not now, seeing that if this were video, Jomy would see her crawling her way out of a dumpster (how undignified! Plus, she's still on the lam.). Another pause, as Seth gets to dashing down the streets in the hopes of making it home before the sirens go off. After all, she's unarmed, and going Crusnik when she's talking to someone would be a Very Bad Idea.]
Ow, ow---I'm fine! I'm much tougher than I look in person, or sound. I just fell and scraped myself, that's all. [Laughing sheepishly here. Okay, so her lying skills are a bit impaired by the slight concussion she's healing from.]

Er, if you're sure. Are you close to where you live? [ 'Cause, yeah. Sirens. ]

I can manage. [Said with a carefree laugh. But yyyyeah, about those. Uh...she'll probably have to rely on Rin's services again if things go south. Which it's looking as if they will, because it is getting quite dark out---]
The monsters don't scare me.

It'd still be best to avoid them, if possible.

They're not enough to kill me, kind stranger. [There's a hint of coldness in her voice, when she says that, in spite of her appreciation for his concern.] It's safe to say I've been up against worse. Much worse.
After all, monsters don't quite compare to angry humans.
