oo1 | voice ; after the sirens.

Jan 26, 2011 19:09

[ There is a near-inaudible onslaught of grunts, as well as the sound of stumbling upon grass. Ragged breaths accompany this, but it's taking a while for any actual speech to begin. The communication device suddenly emits to the listener a thud, signifying that it has been dropped. Several gunshots are heard; Leo is struggling to aim properly ( Read more... )

What's your status? Do you require assistance?

[Liquid is all business when it comes to the monsters.]

There may be more of them nearby. The city is overrun this time of night.

I believe I do.

[ He coughs, catching his breath for a moment. ]

What do you suppose would be the best case of action? Shall I find a temporary shelter and wait it out?

There are shelters near the baseball diamond that are warded, but whether they'll open up this far after the sirens is unknown. Your best bet would be to head to the tower apartments. They won't leave until morning.

I'm heading to the baseball diamond. Do you require medical assistance at all?

Well then.. [ Uneven breathing interrupts his speech. He mostly talking to himself. ] I suppose that in this place, daytime is the safest time..

[ He begins running, as signified by the rapid stepping heard, towards a myriad of buildings by the edge of the field. His voice is jolted by his running. ]

As far as I am aware, I only received minor bruising as of yet, so I should be fine without medical assistance.

Good. Did you see the creature after you?

[There's the sound of almost unnaturally fast footsteps, although Liquid's steps are not even; they're interluded by jumps. Just in case he needs to shoot something.]

You should avoid getting too close; some of them can spit acid or fire.

Not clearly, no.

[ The sound is reassuring; in this situation, he needs all the help that he can get. It takes a while for him to reply, as he is paying close attention to his surroundings after that last bit of information was shared. ]

Hm.. So there are several different kinds?

As many as there are stars. Nobody's ever managed to chonicle them all, from what I can tell.

[He's not far; if Leo is listening, he might notice the sound of someone landing on the soil at the edge of the field.]

[ A soft hum is heard; he is actually distracted, contemplating the possible types of the rampant creatures. For a moment, he is distracted by the slightest sound. ]

Encountering a new type would be interesting.. [ He's speaking his thoughts out, now, while holding the device loosely in his hand.

He looks up for a moment, still unable to make out any clear sign of direction. All he can really see are silhouettes of buildings and the vast, dark field before him. He takes this small opportunity to reload his pistol, cocking it. ]

[Liquid sees the silhouette of the man and approaches, slowly. Just in case. He holds the FA-MAS ready in case of attack.]

If you're planning on studying them, best to get to know the common types first. If you can handle those, they won't be too much of a problem.

[ Seeing the approaching figure, he focuses entirely on it; it doesn't take him too long to realize who it is, and he is stricken with relief. In turn, he also makes his way towards the other, watching his footing and turning every now and then to make sure a creature wasn't right by him. ]

..I sincerely thank you for making your way here. The being is most likely close by, and I am not certain if it brought any others to accompany it.

It's not a problem. Those beasts are quite deadly to the unprepared and I was already outdoors.

[He nods politely, looking around for any sign of the monsters.]

I suppose they're waiting for us to be caught off guard..

[ He is seemingly more intrigued than disturbed by all of this, and proceeds to take a step or two in each direction to expand his field of vision just a bit. ]

Or do they like getting others on edge before actually attacking?

Some of them are foolish, but most of them have at least some semblance of strategy. It's clear they think, at least. Quite possible for some of them to be able to gain entertainment in unnerving their prey. Like cats.

[He unhooks a torch from his belt, shining it into the darkness. Goddamn but NVGs would come in handy right now.]

It's quite likely for it to be circling around. Be on your guard.
