I never knew an egg could be worth so much money, let alone that women had them to begin with. I'm more than certain I wasn't born from an egg so I don't entirely understand it. Regardless, I don't see the appeal in making parentless children - there are already more than enough existing in the world, let alone this city, that new ones certainly don't need to be added to the mess.
