VI // (brief) VIDEO ---> VOICE

Jan 20, 2011 12:28

[For only a couple of minutes or so, the NV's on video feed.  Seth is shown with her back turned, but her clothes are all torn up again, much like when she first arrived.  Just like before, there's little in the way of visible injuries to be seen---a few scuffs and scratches.  What's different this time, however, is that those scratches and scuffs ( Read more... )

[Ffff, indeed. She sighs a little.]

...You heard how the Core got damaged recently, right?

I...

I hadn't. Was that you?

No. I was actually looking into what effects it may have had, when I ran into strange new creatures.

More intelligent, rather.

Did they... Do they move in packs? Or use tools...?

Swarms. And they can assume formations.

For more effective attacks?

... Were you able to beat them?

Yes.

[A small, tired-sounding sigh.]

...A good majority of the swarm that had suddenly attacked me, yes. In the end I had to retreat---I'm only one person. [And she didn't want to risk overextending her Crusnik nanomachines, especially after the incident during the eclipse.] There was also no end to them.

They've certainly got spirit---they act more ravenously than the normal Darkness creatures.

Perhaps they're a contemporary mistake... Like before Christmas. And they'll disappear soon.

[thin hope, but there it was.]

It's good to hear that you're well, though.

[Annnnnd now she's setting this to private.]

They aren't temporary, Allen. Someone told me that these new creatures have a definite source. I don't have a name for the culprit, but my instincts have been confirmed.

[But then, a small chuckle.]

Why, thank you for your concern. Still---it'll take more than even a swarm of those pesky imps to really do any sort of considerable damage to my person.

... A possible newcomer culprit? [because it always seemed like they brought the worst of things to the table. still, his voice is neutral, if simply curious.]

[if it were video, she'd catch his shaky smile at that; as it is, it sounds only like silence.]

Unfortunately. It only seems like our collective image is only getting more sour in the natives' eyes, isn't it? [She laughs, wryly. False preconceptions and stereotypes stemming from the actions of a select few---nothing new to her.] Still, if this issue gets out of hand, this is only going to worsen our already-shaky relationship with the natives. I don't know if that is also deliberate on the culprit's part, but if it is, I'd say they have quite a brilliant mind.

[And she'll remain mum on any further hints concerning her true abilities. She doesn't want to scare this poor kid.]

It... probably wasn't the entire point behind this, if it was intentionally done -- does the media know that it was a newcomer's fault? [he hoped not. as for one ruining it for many...]

At least there's groups who support us, now. Even if they might not be doing it out of an honest reason.

Well, personal amusement seems to be a recurring theme for those types, too. But...no; all the media knows about are the new monsters. Still...I'm sure they'll figure itall out, in time. That's just how the media is.

And there's only so much those groups can do. In the end, we only have each other.

[A wry chuckle.] Most of the time, anyway.
