Not that it really begs to be overstated- but this snow is really something. [Daedalus is sitting by the window, bundled up in several layers, fascinated by the snowfall] Now I know what they meant by calling the earlier weather 'gentle flurries'. I'm relieved that I'm not working tonight (crossing fingers, just watch me get called in the moment I set this NV down), getting home through it would be a trial. I hope the rest of you are staying somewhere warm, indoors.

I've been thinking. [Actually, he's been thinking about a lot of personal things lately, and so its time to force his focus back into the bigger picture] It amazes me how creatively civic-minded the city's been lately, this month. I suppose that's half the intention of the season, beyond the big consumption-push? I've seen more toy collections, food donations, charity auctions, train exhibits, ecetera- and I really should be going to that SPU dance concert that's going to Skye Pediatrics benefit, tonight's the last night it's on. But I'm a little reluctant to face the trip out for naught, so I'm wondering if any of the students know if there's been a cancellation for 'Nutcracked' or not?

I did have an actual point to raise here, which is also why I'm speaking about civic-mindedness. In the interests of improving newcomer relations with the rest of the city, it's important from a practical standpoint to consider our qualitative benefits- as individuals, and as a whole. If we are to ever prove ourselves just as worthy of a dignified existence here, in the eyes of the locals, we do need to make visible, accounted-for efforts to contribute positively to the community. Not just the newcomer fund, or assisting one another, but providing some purposeful reason for our being here in Siren's Port at all.

While it's hardly our own choice, the force of The Pull that puts us here- we do need to work actively to prove ourselves capable, productive, instrumental beings. No matter what talents you have, there must be some means of participation for you.

(That includes refraining from negative behaviors, also..that should go without saying.)

So this is my appeal, with a goal of organizing it to better form by the New Year: Can we agree on compiling some evidence, in both proof of action and also perhaps a prepared document, a formalized statement to substantiate our lives here? A response, in some way, to the public arguments raised against us. Let the city know that we are here and we are striving to do good work for it. You may think this a high-minded suggestion, but it's really just putting some critical backing behind ourselves.

This can only really work effectively as a joint effort, so yes, I am asking this of everyone on the network.

Gilbert! I heard about the baking contest belatedly, but I was thinking of you- did you enter? How did it go?
