So...Hanukkah starts on Wednesday. Anybody else around here celebrate it? I know there's probably a lot of people who don't even know what it is, but since this is Canada I figure there's gotta be somebody else out there. I've seen some menorahs around, in between all the Christmas decorations. That's pretty much all we have as far as holiday symbols go. Oh, and dreidels.

Mom and Dad never made a huge deal out of Hannukah, but we would have a nice dinner the first night, just them and my brothers, and then another one the last night with some more family. Oh, and Mom's rule is, you have to be home all eight days for the candle lighting. Period. [Long pause] ...I don't even...I wonder what she's going to think. I mean, that I'm not there. I've always...been there.
[He rubs his hair and musses it up for a moment, his hand gripping a fist in it. Then lets go, takes a breath, squares his shoulders.]
Anyway. We got a menorah. We'll be lighting it. If anyone wants to be there, you know. You're welcome to.
