Grimmjow! grimmjerk November 11 2010, 01:52:44 UTC
[ This particular Espada has developed an affinity for motor vehicles. They're clunky, heavy, come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and blow up when you so much as tap them. They're literal cannon fodder, helpfully provided by idiot humans that apparently like their transportation to be flammable.

Several blocks streets down and to the west of Ulquiorra, a wildly grinning Grimmjow is lifting a delivery truck (dairy) and hurling it down a long stretch of street, some of which still contains pedestrians.

No fatalities, but the wounded stagger away after the fireball blossoms. ]

[Kenpachi was headed for the Cuarta. He had killed the Quinta in Hueco Mundo, so it was time to try the next in line.

Fuck. Where was he? This didn't look like the street in the video. And the building Ulquiorra was standing on was taller than anything around here. He saw an explosion up ahead and then a flash of blue hair. This bastard would have to do for now.]

Is that what you're fucking reduced to, throwing shit?

[ ...oho, this particular motherfucker.

Grimmjow stands his ground, some thirty or forty feet away from where the Void area starts. ]

It's more entertaining this way. I was bored with all the humans running and screaming.

[He's not running away. Maybe he is less of a pussy than Kenpachi thought. Or maybe he's just fucking dumb and doesn't know who he's up against. Kenpachi stands with his sword out.]

I got some entertainment for you.

[ Because severe bodily trauma is JUST NOT ENOUGH to discourage some people, Grell is lounging on a roof, eagerly watching Grimmjow's merry-making below. As the smashed dairy truck spatters milk across the street, he claps his hands in delight ]

WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

[ ...that voice.

Grimmjow flinches, scowls, looks up...

something that looks a great deal like a lamppost is sailing skyward quickly thereafter, intent on knocking somebody off his perch. ]

[Edgeworth is there, as ever, trying to maintain order. The sound of that explosion, however, immediately draws his attention, and he charges towards the outskirts of the borders set down by the Voids. His eyes fall upon Grimmjow; he recognizes him, and scowls.

But he doesn't approach. Instead, he turns to those milling about uncertainly, his jaw set and his eyes blazing.]

Draw towards the center of the baseball field! They'll be robbed of powers there, and will not be able to touch you. Find a Void to send out here.

[ The great advantage to throwing something instead of using a cero: he knows the special bastards they have over there will stop any kind of power.

But a rock is a rock, right?

It should keep going.

When Grimmjow hears that irritating, high and mighty voice, he waltzes closer, pausing only long enough to snatch up an abandoned vehicle (a moped, incidentally). It's this that he tosses with great voice right toward the thick knot of people, testing to just how good their defense really is. ]

[Edgeworth wants to keep certain things a secret, yes. He doesn't want anyone to know of his abilities - particularly not someone who is, without question, an enemy. But his own need for secrecy is as nothing beside the lives of these people.

He knows the border of powers. He had others test it and triangulate it. So he knows he needs take but two steps before turning neatly and - with a short subtle gesture of his hand - sending a wall up cutting through the trajectory of that moped.

And then he steps back inside the circle of protection.]

[ That wasn't too smart of Edgeworth.

Tactically and morally sound, yeah. He had people to protect and the means to protect them. But he's suddenly become interesting and the wide smirk on Grimmjow's face is tainted with excitement.

After that little display is done, Grimmjow lifts a foot, then slams it down against the asphalt, a wide, flat chunk of it torn upward. Physics and a single arm won't let him lift it, but that's not the idea here. Another massive stomp flips it up just high enough for a kick, deep cracks splitting along the surface and dividing it into four or five large pieces that rocket toward the diamond. ]

[Edgeworth's eyes go wide. They're moving too fast; they'll have crossed over the border too soon, and he can't put up a wall inside the circle provided by the Voids -

But he's been learning in the past few days that his power is not just building and repairing, but something more fundamental. It's the power to correct typos, to ensure that his apartment stays clean. It's orderly and neat.

And motion is chaos, no less than destruction, no less than broken skin; though consumed with fear for those people standing in the way of that asphalt, Edgeworth for once does not freeze. He steps out, and gestures, and robs the heavy rocks of their chaos and therefore their momentum.

They fall harmlessly to the ground, doing no worse than gouging out pits of dirt.]

[ The savagery in his expression doesn't diminish, but behind the wildness his mind is racing, hot with anticipation and the desire to win, to destroy. Edgeworth has been nothing but an annoyance up until now, full of big words but with no power to back them up.

Now he is worth something.

The air begins to tremble from the force of his reiatsu, an audible thunder that translates to intense pressure, even to normal humans. A static whine begins, rising higher, higher, until Grimmjow just disappears.

Seconds later, four more slabs of asphalt are torn up, struck, and sent flying, a wave of hardened tar fragments nearly blocking his view of his actual target. ]

[Jesus. Edgeworth throws up another wall, fast, the stone hard and solid enough to block those pellets of tar and stone, and behind it he falls to one knee before he forces himself upright again. The force of that power is nauseating, and this is taking a lot from him, and it's harder by far to defend himself than to defend others. If a Void simply shows up - he needs to wait for a Void to show up. That's all.]
