Good evening, darlings.
[Taking a brief pause, she adjusted the phone in her hand to better fit herself in the picture. Though she had been sitting on some ledge, of sorts, within her greenhouse, she soon took to walking instead.]
I've had a few people dismiss my contempt about the fire in the forest - saying that they're [She rolls her eyes as she gives a brief pause.] "just plants".
However, I thought perhaps you all would grow an appreciation of sorts, if I added just a couple of modifications here and there~
[Stopping, she maneuvered her phone to catch the image of a vine-like plant about the height of Ivy herself. However, the one distinguishing feature was the mouth on top. Something like
this, but far smaller - and slightly less nightmare-inducing.]
It's far from the most impressive work I've done, in creating new species of plants, however I think this gets the point across. It was the best I could do in the rather brief amount of time the challenge was presented - not to mention anything too much bigger gets to become rather troublesome in feeding. The point is, these plants aren't as lifeless as you all may think.
[Raising a hand, she smiled gently as she pet the "head" of the plant. It made an appreciative growl in return, nuzzling against her hand.]
So are you all still content in burning these poor little babies?

Is this proof enough of it's sentience?
[frown] Or do you need further demonstration?
