[text, cause you CAN tl;dr this much in voice, BUT THEN SOMEONE MIGHT MISS SOMETHING]

We are disparate. That much is clear. For all that we've been brought from our various homes to the same place, forced into the same situation, we're not united in any sense of the word. Yet I do not believe that we can survive if we do not support one another. To this end, I propose two things ( Read more... )

So you are uninterested in leaving this city, Mr. Edgeworth?

I am not. But I am under no illusions that it will happen soon, or that we can neglect others in the meantime.

Then why did you neglect to include a third branch to research means of escape? A more direct solution to all of these problems would be leaving the city entirely.

Because I am not a scientist. I would not presume to tell people how to go about their research, which I presume all are doing independently.

But you are not a fighter either, I think. Yet you intend to organize those individuals who are.

At home, I was responsible for directing the actions of police officers under my command. This is not entirely a parallel situation, but it is not dissimilar.

You are very efficient. I was only surprised that you did not attempt to take control of all facets of the situation at hand and call for the formation of a third committee.

You are not worried that some members of your community will have their votes compromised due to their youth? There are not many children in this place yet, but that could of course change with time.

Certainly not. A young age is no reason that their voices should go unheard.

I agree. But an age limit is often set for many reasons. Primarily in this case, a reason to do so might be out of fear that some outside source could influence a younger mind, either through the power of suggestion or pure force. You are unconcerned by this?

I am. The voting will, after all, be confidential, and there are few enough children as it is.

I see. I suppose any further critiques of this system would be critiques common to all democratic processes.

What do you think the original residents of this place will make of your organization?

At best, they will support it. Perhaps participate.
