[The feed clicks on and a young man stares down at it, eyes unfocused and deadened. Blood is streaked across one of his cheeks as the camera jerks around; he's observing it from all sides. As the camera swivels the beheaded corpse of a creature can be seen briefly, as well as a blood-stained sword clutched tightly in the young man's hand

[Pause. Deep breath. Calm down.]

You're in a place called Siren's Port, in Canada, which is in my world, cept it's the future. And there's a buncha us here from Edelweiss-- me and Matt and Rin and Yuffie, we're all here. Are you still in the baseball diamond?

[He frowns, looking around.]

Calm down, Jack. I'm fine. [A small smirk curls the corner of his lips.] I'm more than fine.

Stay there, I'm comin' to find you. And I'm calm, I just weren't expectin' you.

Yeah, yeah, I'm goin'. Christ. You run into the monsters or people?

[Horribly sarcastic.] Are they monsters? Are you sure? Maybe they're just therapy.

[And he cuts the feed, beginning to run. Ffff. When he arrives, he's actually kind of out of breath, but straightens up entirely and shoves his hands into his pockets as he spots Sasuke.]

[Sasuke is there looking slightly bloodstained and very twitchy. He's still gripping his sword tightly.]

You're slow as hell.

You're impatient.

Look, I didn't wanna say nothin' over the NV, but-- we're keepin' Edelweiss a secret. Least, the part about it bein' an asylum. We're callin' it a lab instead.

The hell's the point of that?

Cuz it sounds a lot better sayin' we all come from a laboratory-- there's one here too-- then a madhouse. And nobody wants to be called crazy.

Right. Whatever sounds better.

[His looks out into the distance. then starts walking, resting his sword against his shoulder.]

[cowboy_newsie]

They give ya a free apartment too, you know. And money. It's weird.

[He pauses, and then follows along, because you know what he feels vaguely responsible.]

[Just listens silently as he walks, taking in the information with little interest. He's more concerned about a different topic.]
