[You might be smiling Jack, but Ciel's glaring pretty hard right now.]
Then why let her again? I'd never stand for such a thing.
You know, I honestly can't bring myself to care what you do outside of what affects my life in this wretched city, but you were insistent and made a promise to Alois and I. I expect you to keep it. You can't keep it if you're dead.
Or are your words as lacking and empty as your obvious lack of self worth?

[Jack ducks into an alleyway and leans against the wall, catching his breath - and he smiles back at the NV, at Ciel.]
Don't worry about it, dear. [The smile curls a little devious.] She won't take my life unless she's completely sure that her master wants it, and there's no way for her to know.

I'm upset at your attitude.
You tell everyone not to worry with that stupid smile plastered on your face while you get yourself into trouble, trying to act like a martyr to save everyone else. You can't save everyone, nor can you protect everyone. It's impossible and unrealistic, regardless of how desperate you try to or wish to.
By suffocating yourself with other peoples burdens you're not only inhibiting them to grow and learn themselves, you're hurting them far more than if you simply let them care instead of pushing them away or pretending you're fine.
You're an adult. Stop being so selfish and childish. You're not allowed such a luxury anymore.

[It's true; every word is, and he knows it. It's funny how he's being lectured by a child, but in truth - he's been running away, being a coward, because he can't take other people caring about him when he'd let so many others down a century ago.]
I guess I'm no Prince Charming, aren't I?
[He lifts a hand to tuck a lock of hair behind his ear, smearing it with blood.]
What do you mean you promised someone else that luxury?

Then I suppose I'll say the same to you, when it comes the time for my soul to be ripped out of my body and devoured.
'Don't worry, dear.'
