If someone you hate, who you've killed before, who you're only being civil to because of orders, invites you over for a meal, wants to do something friendly with you, and otherwise acts like he has no bad feelings for you despite being enemies in the past, what would you assume? It's this person's fault you ended up enemies in the first place.

[ Oh god, this is far too close to a certain situation with someone else from home. Only he wasn't killed or anything. ]

It sounds like a trick to me. If the other person is the type to want revenge, he might lay an ambush, or poison the food.

He's a moron who doesn't seem to want revenge for what's happened between us.

How do you know he doesn't want revenge? Did he actually say that?

[ Because Katara knew she wanted revenge against the guy who killed her mom. ]

He hasn't, but he's never seemed to be mad about it in the first place, which is stranger.

He wasn't mad over being killed? That's definitely strange. Who wouldn't be angry over being killed?

What was his excuse for asking you to dinner? Just to catch up on past events or something?

Well, dying here means people usually come back. Maybe that's why he wasn't mad.

He invited me to Thanksgiving so I wouldn't be alone.

I don't know...even if dying isn't permanent here, it's still dying.

So you wouldn't be alone...even though you're enemies...?

He's my enemy. I don't know if he sees me the same way.

[ This is surprisingly relevant to Katara's interests here. She sees Zuko as an enemy. He ... apparently didn't see her the same way. ]

Why not? Were you on opposite sides of a war that he didn't want to fight or something?

We were on opposite sides, but he claims he didn't want to do what made me that way. Had to, but didn't enjoy it.

[ Aand that's where the similarities stop. ]

So what are you going to do? Are you going to go?

I don't know yet.

[ A short pause. ]

Maybe you should. At least then you'll know for sure if he's planning something. You can defend yourself against a trap if you go in expecting danger. But if you don't, you're might always wonder...
