I'm not referring to "buying a house" or "starting a family" or "staking out your claim on a space in the graveyard". I mean only that beyond food, you have other necessities. Shelter, for example.

Well, as we are a community of sorts, and as we have been forced together by less than desirable circumstances, and as a loss of one member of this unfortunate community, no matter the circumstances, is an inconvenience to the rest of us--I would say that it rather does matter to us.
