[Oh hey, Doctor Yumeno looking comfortably sharp and professionally concerned in new fall outerwear over his medical scrubs (thank you, Re-l, for dragging us out shopping on our day off) making absolutely no mention of any Sunday Strolls which happened yesterday, nor any personal indiscretions that happened on his birthday night last week, because ( Read more... )

Have you any samples of the product itself?

I do, both opened and unopened cans, some of which the patients brought along with them. We're still waiting on full spread of lab analysis to come through.

Any preliminary findings as of yet?

There is definitely a presence of synthetic psychedelics, not listed anywhere in the full ingredients, and not present in every can, but it does warrant recall and investigation.

We're thinking it may be a reaction between something in the chemical flavoring ingredients and the inner coating of the can.

Typical politician's run around? Is that what they gave you?

More or less. I've spoken to three different offices, none of which seemed much concerned with regulating or even paying attention to what goes out on the market.

Then I'm sure you're intelligent enough that I don't have to spell it out.

They're either lining their own pockets or in someone else's. That this island is so isolated from the rest of the world makes that sort of thing quite a bit easier, I'm sure.

It's irresponsible. Romdeau was also a city isolated from the rest of the world, but the administration generally upheld certain standards to ensure quality of life.

Why would anyone trust something so horribly misspelled anyway.

I haven't the faintest. Or why anyone would want to consume the equivalent of 8 cups of coffee in one sitting. Well...anyone besides Prosecutor Godot...

It's all ridiculous. These people have no knowledge of good health or moderation.

[We're going to tactfully say nothing for moderation, since we learned our sad alcohol tolerance limits last Thursday, and don't want to seem too much of a hypocrite.]

Well...yes, but-

But more importantly, it's a question of public accountability!

Hallucinogens? Is it really possible for that sort of thing to happen by accident?

It's very disconcerting and a bit suspicious, isn't it?

But what would they gain if they did do it on purpose? It doesn't seem sensible.

No, it doesn't seem sensible, but before we even begin to question motive or mistake, they can admit the error and recall the product.

Amazing what some people can get away with, isn't it? Your warning is appreciated.

Not so astonishing, considering the legal slave markets and other business transactions allowed to continue here...and yet it still surprises me.

That's true. Is this the first epidemic tied to food and drink consumption that appears to have deliberate cause?

No, a few months ago there was a contaminated tuna recall.

Since the earthquake, when radiation leakage compromised a good deal of the agriculture in sector 7, there have been scattered reports of contaminated produce here and there.
