Nah, dude. Totally not needed. As long as you're sure you guys have a place to stay. Can't let anyone be out on the streets, ya know?

It was still nice. At least let me get you lunch sometime, when I've got more money?

I work late in the evenings, but if you need a sitter... as long as you don't mind me teaching her - it's a her right? - to paint and stuff? I have a ton of art supplies. No reason I couldn't watch her.

[he blinks a bit, and then waves a hand a little]

She's not..mine-mine. She's my cousin. Her mama left her so...so my family put me in charge of her. [his expression softens a lot, and he smiles a bit, glancing toward the other room where she's sleeping] She's so cute, and a total genius.

If you want to teach her painting, she'd...she'd really love it, I bet. She's a good kid too, really smart and well-behaved, and she never gives anyone trouble!

Totally not a problem. I mean, I don't have a lot of practice with kids, but if she doesn't mind hanging out with someone who's totally into painting and stuff, she's welcome to come hang out.

Maybe she and I can learn to cook together! [Grin.]

[he makes a weak little smile] I had zero practice with kids when I first met her. [he shakes his head] She can be a little fragile sometimes, but she's a real trooper, you know? She loves to draw, she's always drawing me.

[he pauses, because he can tell he's rambling]

[A laugh] I used to be like that too. I've got plenty of things for her to use to draw with.

I fail at cooking so totally dude. One of my roomies knows more about cooking than me. He... tries to teach me. I just fail.

[he lifts a hand to scratch at the back of his neck, inside the hoodie, a little sheepishly] My drawings are terrible.

I learned to cook from my mom. She taught me, because Yuzu wanted lunch for school. I'm still not very good, but...

Yeah, I was never taught. My 'rents had a cook, and then I stole my food and then other people fed me. Just never learned.
