[The NV is set down just opposite him and he steps back to perch on the edge of a table. The astute might notice the Materia Kadaj gave him barely visible underneath his discarded coat, but other than that, there's nothing else visible of the room.

Liquid actually seems... happy. It's nothing concrete. It's written more in the lines of his body ( Read more... )

[Ocelot settles himself onto a couch near Liquid.]

Chess is an interesting analogy. Are you a piece or a player?

A true player will be sure to place themselves on the field as well... to enhance the risk.

[He looks over at Ocelot, smirking a little.]

Chess is a poor analogy anyway. Kings are nearly worthless... their armies have to sacrifice themselves to keep them alive. True leaders should have their own power.

[Ocelot rises from the couch and walks over to a window.]

True. Any leader worth his salt should be able to handle themselves with or without their army.

[He watches him idly, looking amused.]

Wolf and I are hitting up a pharmacy later. Anything you need?

They're worth nothing if they can't do anything but sit behind their forces.

[He leans on the windowsill, looking outside while speaking to the other man.]

Hmm......... how about some heavy sedatives. Or tranquilizers.

And we're out of milk.

... [He doesn't want to know.] Right. I'll be sure to pick those up.

[A sigh.]

And you're right. Only a fool would be so weak. How can anyone so pathetic hope to hold command of anyone?

[He tilts his head slightly... still facing the window, but looking directly at Liquid's reflection.]

...You might be pleased to know that I think you must have been a worthy leader in your time.

[He is pleased. That earns Ocelot a smile.]

Thank you, Ocelot.

It's just a compliment to your worth. I haven't seen how you command a unit yet.

Heh. If the rest of my unit feel the urge to show up here, perhaps you might.

You haven't told me a lot about myself yet.

Something in particular you wanted to know?

Anything that stood out.

And what I looked like.

Hm... [He ponders for a moment on how much to tell and how to phrase it.] Let's see... you were sneaky, the best torturer - ah, sorry, "interrogator" I knew of. The best with your revolvers, too.

[What Ocelot looked like?]

You were in your early sixties by my time. Tall, grey hair. A moustache. You flounced strode around the place like a bantam cock. You dressed rather sombrely, if you discounted the long and flashy coat and the bullet loop you wore. Oh, and the gloves. Other than that, you'd have looked just like any other soldier, really.

[If any other soldier was determined to be mistaken for a cowboy.]
