Been so busy I forgot to say anything on the network about the film contest! Oh- if anyone doesn't know by now,Swept Away won. Not bad for a second shot at making a good video. Now people can recognize me as 'that kid who was a film festival director' and not just 'that kid who made the dumb countdown movie'.

Good job with everyone else's, though! I ( Read more... )

Great, okay- Uh...

I don't need to wear Riku's work stuff again, do I?

And when are you gonna start putting together that radio show?

Formal wear, kiddo. Your slacks and shirt hardly count as such.

[talk him out of it. I dare you.]

None at all? Well, we'll have to change that, won't we?

As who you are and what you've done--aiding in the production of the piece and lending your musical talent--I'll see what I can do.

I'm not one to give, but it's not giving if you've earned it♪

You can just...loan me from the costumes or something, really, I don't need a suit for anything else.

Fine fine, if you - insist~. I'll have you know, were you one of my disciples, the choice would not have been yours to make♪

Swing by tomorrow and we can talk business.

What counts as being one of your disciples, anyway?

Will do.

Hard work...dedication...-Apprenticeship. Like the artist of old, I have taken others under my wing. Men who desired to better themselves; wished to shape their own futures. They all held a natural talent, but without practice--hours of dabbling at the piano keys or weeks of toiling in front of a canvas--there wouldn't have been improvement.

You see~?

Oh. So all real artists, then.

As opposed to hacks?

Of course they're - real - artists. That's what I had hoped to shaped them into; mold them from what little they had (or how much they held). And it seems, despite how - beautiful - they were--what talents they possessed, what futures they could have had--that the Doubter's venom affects even the greatest of minds.

As opposed to...y'know, kids who just want to win a movie contest.

So you're talking about your world again, then...not any disciples you've got here?

Not quite. There are a couple who dance the fine line of disciplehood. I try not to play favorites, but who can blame me~? It's not my fault that some stars shine brighter than others.

What could an inquisitive young man such as yourself want wi-...

Oh~.

[A sound of shuffling, heels of his shoes click on the ground as he leans forward.]

...I hear that tone in your voice, little schmo. The flighty call of a -man who wants more. You wish to join the flock, don't you?

Well...it was fun, doing the movie.

And I'm not really learning so much by teaching myself what's on top 40 for dance clubs. Or my stadium job, really- that's just hawking crackerjack to slobs who don't finish half the box then spill it all over...

That's a waste of talent, if I've got any, right?

Like water through a sieve, really. But you're right, there is a way to harness that - talent.

I can take you under my wing, but know that without the hard work that goes into hammering out the kinks, you'll be going no where fast. Learn under me, toiling and slaving away to the passions of creation and production, and you'll go far; further than, perhaps, even you might have figured.

So how about it?

...just for movies, or for DJ-ing and the radio show you were talking about, too?
