[Liquid's voice is laced with rage, though not at the man he's addressing.]

Dammit, I was so close, and I got fired on the last day? At least I got paid. I think they were just happy enough to get rid of me after what happened.

[There's a pause while he sighs. His voice softens.]

That's correct, though not seriously.

You want the full story? Fine. Kadaj decided to come show off his uniform to me at the university and thought it would be funny to pretend I was under arrest. The joke went a little too far, I punched him in the face - twice - and he drew his sword on me. Otacon tried to stop the fight and ended up hurt in the process. He got me fired, I got Otacon hurt.

I can't see it lasting. But frankly, while Yazoo, Loz and Yaha are all on the force as well, I really can't see Kadaj being taken down.

Not, I will admit, that I'm protecting his interests. He can look out for himself and I still haven't forgiven them for what happened to Father.
