[the NV activates right when it hits the floor, clattering noisily and switching the audio on right in the midst of what appears to be a screaming match between two men, one of them a very startled--practically horrified--Kaz.]
--can lie to anyone, maybe even get away with it, but you must have cracked your skull in that accident if you think you can lie to me!
[the other man hesitates before speaking, making a rather upset little grunting noise. it's a well-known Big Boss habit, and that's who the other voice belongs to.] I just said it was a transplant. Why would I lie about that?
Yeah, well, who donated it? A vampire? Jesus Christ, Snake, have you even looked in a mirror y--
[sharper] Don't say that again! It doesn't look that -- bad. As usual, you're overreacting.
I walk in and find the room pitch black and some creepy glowing...thing staring at me and you think I'm the crazy one? I think I damn well have a reason to overreact. [pauses, then adds a little less indignantly:] It -- wasn't a vampire, right? You're still alive?

You can't tell in this city. And...they did say that people who die here sometimes come back as -- as monsters.

[a metallic click that silences Big Boss. a handgun cocking.]

[solemn, even tone] I understand. Don't worry, I won't let the same happen to you. You'll just come back again anyway.

[he's cut off abruptly as something sails through the air--something that sounds strangely like a vase, something that could have been used to hold flowers to give their room a cheerier atmosphere, when it hits the floor and smashes on impact--and hits him (or nearly hits him) square in the face. Kaz yelps in pain and sends the NV skittering across the ground again where it deactivates just as promptly as it had switched on.]
