You're probably right. How about a nickname, then? Nothing to bury you with, just something to identify this voice, should I hear it again.

I like it. The kanji for moon is actually a girl's name - Tsuki - but I couldn't be happier with Light. In reality it's a complex mess of meanings, but as a name it's strong, and it suits other languages just fine.

[A pause, then--]

Edgeworth is right, you know. You shouldn't trust me.

I don't believe I've quite gotten that far. One step at a time. You can convince me on your own. I would rather not develop a distrust of you so quickly by word of mouth alone.

Others would imply that my trying to gain your trust so would be enough of a reason to distrust me alone. I won't ask anything of the sort from you. However it's nice to meet you, Miss Lee.

Lee. [ softly, correcting. ]

I doubt I would give you any good reason to use my name if you had it, in any case. I mean. [ considering. ] Well, based on things that I've heard this morning, it did not sound as if you did what you had with those names without what you may have felt to be good reason.

And with a vague, outsider's perspective, I can't say I can agree it's- Right, it-

One step at a time. As long as you find yourself caring for conversation, or an ear or the like, then I'll probably be around. As I've already said, I'll use my own self to form solid conclusions about you and anyone else.

As long as you know yourself, I have no doubt you'll be fine. You have nothing to fear from me, at least. They're quite right - I am unarmed - but I chose to be, and that decision is what has freed me to say this; to admit to my dishonesty in the open.

As for what I did with those names--I killed thousands of people. A little glance to the archives could discover that much, so there's no point lying about it. I executed criminals in my own world, acting above judges and the law. It should be no surprise that Edgeworth doesn't trust me, as a result.

What you do with that knowledge is up to you, but I will continue to repent regardless.
