An observant person will notice Neji's reflection in the window, and even more so, the strip of dark cloth pulled across his forehead rather than his headband. You could just get a mattress and buy a frame later. At least that way you'd have something comfortable to sleep on.

I don't think the darkness cares whether the sun is still out, I mean without light there are no shadows so I don't see why the sun would keep it back.

Perhaps.

Darkness in the evening hours seems different from the shadows of the sun in this case, but if it's not adverse to light itself, I wonder if it isn't the heat. In any case, I suppose it doesn't need to have reason for 'choosing' the same time of day to appear, but if it were able to take form at any time, it's a wonder why it doesn't afflict the city for the entirety of the day.

Maybe not but I still think that the darkness could show up whenever it wanted. And it might only affect the city at night because that's when its strongest.

For all we know the darkness could have been all the time before the first person showed up here and changed when newcomers started arriving.

In the end, we observe patterns and string theories together, looking for reasons and evidence to support them, but our lack of information may change soon enough.

Pretty much. I think there are a lot of people who want answers and are even actively seeking it. We just gotta be prepared to be ready for them and what might happen if we find out.

For all we know someone could be controlling the darkness and just waiting for us to figure it out so they can punish us for it.

I don't think many would be complacent with the current situation.

You certainly have enough questions, it seems.

You might be surprised at how many would prefer to stay here than go back. Not all worlds are as good as this.

I like to know what I'm up against, that's all.

No, I can clearly imagine reasons one may wish to stay, but that's their decision to make individually.

It's only sensible.
