begin the setup? [video]

[ the video turns on to reveal -- white. That's it: just a white background, without a hint of any kind of Siren's Port scenery. Weird. A few moments pass with nothing happening, but then, a form begins to phase into existence. It's staticky at first, almost like a broken TV, but soon the shape settles, and an adult, silver-haired man appears, ( Read more... )

An intellectual, are we? Just cut off your connection. I don't have time to waste.

Hey. I'm not the one talking to himself like some crazy person.

[ crazy person just about covers it, actually ]

My situation changed quickly and unexpectedly. I was unaware I'd been connected to a... public network. If that's what you'd call this primitive garbage.

Primitive garbage? What are you ... from some futuristic world?

From your perspective, yes. If your weak brains aren't just overwhelmed by radiation poisoning, that is.

Hm. Not sure if I should be insulted by that insult, or confused about how you chose 'radiation poisoning' out of everything that you could have said.

Unless I've been resurrected in this "magical city" of yours 500 years in the past, which is utterly ridiculous, you're in a uranium refinery.

I think you're going to have to believe in the ridiculous, then.

Hmph. We'll see. The scientific plausibility of your story is very seriously lacking.

[ well, he says that, but it's not like what he's found so far makes much sense, either. It seems he's inside of some very small system - probably a 'device' or whatever. There should be a way to turn on the screen and let Ash get a look outside... but he's still looking for it. ]

I don't think that science has much to do with this ... unless you're talking science fiction.

And that was precisely my point. Use your head.

Then, how are you gonna explain this?

As of right now, there is nothing to explain, besides an unusually large number of humans being stupid enough to enter this facility and suffer severe poisoning --

[ suddenly, he cuts off his speech and tilts his head in another direction, and then the video feed cuts out. Looks like he found the software to toggle the NV's actual video function. ]

[ and... what Ash sees is definitely not the uranium refinery he used to call home. In fact, it's open sky, with a bunch of tall city buildings stretching up into it. He must be in the 'device,' which must be on its back, facing up into the sky, somewhere in the city - what they were telling him was true. Ash would be happy that video of himself at that point wasn't being broadcasted, because this? Freaks him out. All Yosuke gets is the audio of him freaking out, though. ]

... what the hell is going on here?!

[Initial asshole or not, he shouldn't be ignored and left to be frightened by himself. Yosuke lets out a soft sigh.]

Like I said, this isn't where you think it is. There are quite a few things to be worried about here, but there are plenty of good people who are willing to make sure that you get through it all right.
