[The video feed triggers to a marvelous view of the rooftops, the sky acting as a backdrop to a figure dressed mostly in white, his mouth set in a firm line as pale eyes sweep the area and a smooth voice sounds over the network.]I'm not interested in mild threats, although I'll appreciate an update on the situation. I'm aware there are a number of

Nara Shikamaru. You seem different, but I suppose that can wait. What is your status?

Before we get into that, though... Did you speak to a Greeter in the field?

No, I didn't remain long enough to socialize in favor of scouting the area. However, someone named 'Miles Edgeworth' has contacted me and claimed that this is an entirely different world from ours.

Most of the people here are civilians, but a number of them are hostile to newcomers. You'll want to be on the lookout for anyone suspicious who might be following you. There's a group of killers who've been targeting newcomers and you might have to rely on taijutsu alone to fight them if they get close enough.

I see. Do you have any information on their proficiencies? If they're simply hostile civilians then it won't be an issue, but I don't intend to underestimate threats. If this is truly a foreign world, then it seems reasonable to assume others have been pulled here from theirs.

[God, it was a struggle to word that politely.]
Even civilians here are usually equipped with supernatural abilities. I've seen a lot of powers being used by people with no combat training whatsoever. It's hard to predict what we might be up against because, like you said, we're dealing with a lot of interdimensional variety.
This specific group of killers hasn't left us much evidence, but from descriptions it sounds like one of them is capable of completely draining your chakra in an instant.

While that certainly changes the perception of civilian, even one lacking combat training can be unpredictable in that sense. Reason enough to be cautious of most here in that aspect. It would be unfortunate enough to come across one capable of disarming a shinobi, although I remain confident in my taijutsu.
Is there any reason they target new arrivals specifically, or is that just their current pattern?

Most of the native population doesn't take their hostility to that extreme and our fellow newcomers are a surprisingly friendly bunch. The situation's nothing to panic over, just something to be aware of.

I appreciate the caution and time taken to answer my inquiries, Shikamaru.

Most of the newcomers tolerate each other pretty well, at least for the sake of not making the situation worse than it is. Obviously we can't count all of them as allies and friends, but it's a safe bet that one of them will help you if you're in trouble.
If you choose to live there, every newcomer's given a free room at the apartments south of that field where you landed. They'll let you stay for about a month. You'll end up meeting a lot of the others if you stay there, so I guess that helps the whole unity thing.
Of course there's no telling what the others who're arriving this month might be like so it's safest to get your own place as soon as you can.

Considering that I've just entered the city, I don't have too many options at the moment, but I don't intend to rely on hospitality for very long. It shouldn't be difficult to find a temporary occupation.

Any other questions?

No, I believe I've found out most of what I needed for the moment. Thank you.
