[The radio cuts in, static nearly drowning out an almost harsh voice] Damn- [The radio turns off and on again, the sound of footsteps crunching down the path soon joined by a thick Irish lilt.]

A right mess you have here, and I’ve seen my share of messes. Got yerself a long way to go to beat the top but- [there’s a pause and Atlas’s voice raises] ( Read more... )

They say knowledge is power, I think I'd start with a bit 'a information. Like what right bastard's holed us up in this place.

That's a popular question, but I'm not sure you'll get any satisfactory answers just yet.

If it helps, we're apparently in a place called Canada. Some people here seem to be familiar with it.

Canada? Well, that's somethin'. Never seen any place in Canada or the US quite like this.

Name's Atlas, 'newcomer' as the walls tell me.

Most of the people you'll speak to using this thing are fellow newcomers, if not all.

So I heard. Not the brightest bunch, lettin' the big group of discontents flock together. Makes ya wonder if there really is a man behind the curtain.

A pleasure Teresa. How long have they cooped you up?

Three weeks. Most people have been here for longer.

And it might be a little less stupid than you think. If anything, having the newcomers working together only makes the natives more suspicious.

Natives? So people lived in this city before. [he sighs.] That's a bastard of a situation on all counts. Most folk don't take kindly to unexplainable change.

Fear of change is a powerful thing.

Was information all you wanted?

Powerful and dangerous, ta all of us.

[a pause, then with a bit of humor.] Could use a good strong drink, if ya know a place that takes kindly to poor, lost newcomers with empty pockets.

[ohoho, a man with a funny bone. there's some amusement clear in her voice.] Hmm... I might know a place.

[his friendly irish brogue is still amused.] I'd be much obliged to ya for that information- a bit 'o company wouldn't be bad either. Perhaps you'll take some pity on a poor sot?

Oh, I think I could manage that. Have you wandered far from the baseball diamond?

Managed to make it to the apartments right next door. Care to meet at the front?
