--ther world? What do you mean? [fiddle, fiddle, crunch of keys, a loud beep as something wrong is pressed. short halt.] I don't think there's any signal here at all.
There isn't a signal. Not to that place. It's as I said; we aren't there anymore. [Some may recognize this as Shijima's voice. She sounds very bland - but, there's one of her distinct huffs.] This is ridiculous, we don't have time for this sort of thing. This is Canada, by the way. Ca-na-da, do you hear?
[in comparison, this voice is very musing, off-hand. more crunched keys--] Canada. We've never been there before. Isn't it supposed to be nicer?
[Dryly,] I expect you'd know more about it. What are they teaching you in those schools, these days? [Now there's a shifting, very much rustling, and the sound of Shijima's body wriggling a little against dirt.] It isn't nice here. I stayed a while, you know. Months. And it was entirely ridiculous. I really don't approve of all of this. Ah, I think I've tangled myself further.
[shifting.] ... I think you did. Stop moving for a moment; I just need to... [there's a clatter, and suddenly video snaps on, to show a haphazard view of two white-haired teenagers. one in a net, one roped up quite well. the boy's blinking toward the camera, but looking over to the girl fast enough.] Months, really? And you forgot it all - temporarily.
[there's obedience; Shijima deflates, and stops moving. her fingers are hanging loosely onto the net. she looks a cross between bored and irritated.] Yes, and I don't like that I forgot. I've had about enough with forgetting. I didn't need that on top of it.
[she goes from staring at her hands to looking up at the boy.] You know, if you move too sharply, with your arms at that angle they'll probably break. [fingertips pluck at the net a little.] It was a smart move on their part. Now that we're here, I think--
[yellow eyes to the camera, now. her face sinks into more of a frown. back to the boy, with a casual sort of disdain,] Look what you've done, I think you've turned it on. Were you pressing that many buttons?
Eh? [blink, blink, red eyes right into the camera. he flushes, or maybe fluff up, but only a bit.] N-no! Not at all. But...
[small tug toward the ropes. no flinching, when the skin around it turns a threatening sort of white.]
I think you're right about the breaking. So it isn't as if I can reach it. [a beat, head tilting to the side.] You wouldn't happen to remember anyone here, would you?
You... [it's said as though she's considering insulting him. she decides against, though, and begins to turn about in the net again. mumbling a little aggressively,] This isn't working.
[then she stops. rolls away some, clears her throat.] More or less, there is some remembrance...
Would they be watching? [he wasn't smiling, but after a few more experimental tugs, he tips to his side with the smallest wince imaginable, and there might be the tiniest of grins aimed toward Shijima.]
It's likely. That they would be watching. [rolling further away, now. except it's difficult to do so and she's just tangling herself further.] I was able to watch a lot of connections, so it isn't surprising that people knew me a little. [there's a pause in her movements again, and she looks over her shoulder at him, through the (now even messier) mass of her hair.] You want someone to cut you out?
It wouldn't be bad to meet whoever you know. [another tip, this time with a huff when he falls on his back. facing the sky.]
[looking at the camera again, upside-down.] Then again, if they're really already watching...
[mumble mumble,] Introductions, maybe, it's not really out of the question... [hrrm. then, at a more normal volume,] Some people know a little more than others, depending on what had happened during my stay here. You've been mentioned. [there are things she's not mentioning right now, of course. he can probably tell.] Another person, too, if they haven't left during my absence. I'm not sure how long I was gone in this place's time. There might be a difference. Well, I'll introduce you a little bit.
[she pulls herself a little closer to him again, so that she can get a better look at the camera. as if she's making a decree, she starts again.] Hello, Canada. If you're still watching, you're nosy. But we're tangled. Understand?
[sideways glance to Kouichi. more mumbling.] They probably understand. Some of them are all right at understanding things. I feel a very little bit like punching you, but I'm not sure I can reach. [the whole 'he was dead but actually he wasn't apparently but now they're back and he's alive after all but he doesn't remember it like she does and she doesn't know much of what's going on and they've just been betrayed and then pulled away from important events and now they're freaking stuck in ropes' thing is getting to her. mostly the him being alive part, for the moment, though.]
[his gaze turns over to her, a neutral (maybe questioning) expression settling in up until she finishes speaking, whereupon a bit of a lopsided smile is directed over at the camera. things unmentioned, things undone - he couldn't help but chalk it up to the fact that they were apparently flailing in front of a network. it was frustrating. more than frustrating. agitating, irritating, angering.]
[he added to her non-mumbling, calm and polite:]
I'm Kouichi, and she's Shijima. It'd be appreciated if someone wouldn't mind helping us become untangled, since it's rather cumbersome. Thank you in advance, whoever you are!
