Things are boring again.
Animal models are a popular means of testing drugs and psychological theories, particularly in rodents. They wrote a book about it, but those mice could talk, so it isn't scientific, unless their verbosity was a result of some administered drug. I never read the book, so I don't know.
But animal models: rats in tubes, running laps and pressing buttons and drinking from eyedroppers. If this is not a prison, maybe it is a laboratory. The psychology present in this city is interesting. If that is what is being studied, perhaps there's a good reason for it. That doesn't mean that it is any less annoying.
'Independence' is an interesting word. People use it a lot, even in cages. I independently built a card castle today.
[The hologram clicks on suddenly, and everyone is treated to the sight of a really tall card castle. There's a robot standing next to it for size comparison; it's dwarfed by the size of the castle. Playing cards, tarot cards, question cards from a board game--every different type. The image stays for a minute, just long enough for everyone to be impressed--then it clicks off again.]
It wasn't difficult. Later, I'll knock it down.
I also need to cut my hair. It is getting annoying. I have scissors, so that won't be hard to do, either. I have never cut my hair before; perhaps that will be interesting. But I doubt it. Also, I am not hungry, so I won't eat.
[a pause. less sulky.] There are people from the future here, and people from the past. Do we get older as we pass our birthdays? Do we age here? If hair can grow, and if minds can be changed, than bodies can age. That is independent. When we go home, will we go back to the date that we came from, or will we move forward? If I came from November, will I come back in May?
If it is an experiment, it's dumb.
