10 [video]

[the camera isn't on Snake but rather his back as he stands in front of a sink facing a mirror in what looks like his bathroom. he's in the process of unraveling a long strip of gauze from around his neck, tearing pieces of the medical tape that's been holding it to his skin off gently and throwing it in the garbage bin beside him.]

Weird weather, huh. [it's addressed as a question, but he says it like a tired, matter-of-fact statement.] Snow doesn't bother me that much; I'm used to it, but I'd appreciate a little extra warmth more right now. May should feel like May, not January.

[he grunts softly as another piece of tape is torn off, apparently hurting him in the process. he stops to rub the area with his fingers, gently, and for one scant moment, you can see his eyes wander downwards in the mirror's reflection. the dark circles under them should be an indication of how much sleep he's been getting.]

But it's probably the least strange thing to come out of this city. And it's not nearly as terrible as the monsters; just an inconvenience. I bet those of you who don't have jobs must be stuck at home, bored out of your mind.

I've been taking up a few old hobbies to alleviate the boredom and a job for when those fail. [quiet for several moments, not thoughtful so much as pensive.] By the beginning of the week, I hope to bring in my first paycheck. It shouldn't be too hard. I'm good at finding things.

[finally the gauze is off. he drops it in the bin and it flutters down, dirty white cloth crusted with blood, dry in some areas and fresh in others. though only the back of Snake's neck is seen, there's enough raw, scabbed flesh visible for the viewer to draw their own conclusions for what the front looks like. it resembles a rash more than anything.

he reaches for the roll of fresh gauze on the sink top, hesitates, then half-turns to the camera to switch the NV off.]
