You know, shit like a snowstorm really puts a damper on trying to do anything useful. [ He looks away from the camera, somewhat distracted, but focuses himself back on the NV after a moment. ]

Then again, so does having your apartment bombed, I suppose. [ A small bark of a laugh. ] Anyway, I think it's obvious that if I don't want to be a ( Read more... )

A full list would be useful. Some employers take your experience on faith, after all.

I don't know, does Mayor of New York City, Ambassador to the United Nations, and Vice-President of the United States sound remotely like something someone would believe without some credentials behind it?

Frankly, it would be so audacious a lie that it actually has the ring of truth about it. But I'm not even referring to specific jobs. List your accomplishments. What duties you've performed and how you have performed them.

Fair enough. When I was the Mayor of New York, I was lucky enough to legalize gay marriage, and I also dealt with terrorist attacks, a rat invasion, I also paved the way for clean energy in the City, improved the school system and improved inner-city graduation rates in high school students, and saw my deputy mayor elected in after I was finished with my administration. I went on to be the Ambassador for the United Nations and designed a rebuild of the tower destroyed on 9/11, and improved the other one, as well as a few things as a member of the Security Council, but there wasn't anything too terribly different in my world than this one in that respect.

[ A pause ]

I believe we spoke about what what I've been working on in my new job, have we not? [ A sheepish noise ] There was other stuff, of course. Those were some of the high points, though.

Good. And what can you bring, specifically, to whatever job you're seeking here?

[ A pause. How does this younger guy sound so authoritative? ]

Christ, I feel like I'm eighteen again. Complete and utter dedication to my work, of course. Experience and knowledge of my fields, obviously.

[He frowns slightly.]

I do not mean to cause discomfort. I merely know that it's probably been some time since you've had to draw up a resume or interview for a position.

Yeah, it's been a while. Not that campaigning isn't it's own horrific, long interview process, but at least I'm used to it.

Quite. So please, do not feel childish.

I'll try and avoid it. [ A small, wry little laugh. ]

The effort's appreciated, though.

Quite.

[He clears his throat.]

I would offer you work in my law office, but I suspect that would not be to your taste.

That's very generous of you. I'll admit, though, I'd be pretty fucking useless when it comes to legal work.

Honestly, it mostly just requires having a good head on your shoulders.
