In the admittedly limited time I’ve been kept in this place it’s become apparent to me that, in a way familiar to me in the sense of it also occurring in my “home”, that there’s an unfortunate preoccupation with the genetics of metahuman powers that consequently removes focus and resources on improving the human¹ genome. Oh, eugenics.

Humans seem to stumble over this idea every now and then. Careful on that slippery slope.

Your warnings are unnecessary, creature.

Creature?

I take offense to that. Deep offense. Grave offense.

And they're very necessary. Pretend it was issued in a booming voice and accompanied by lightning.

I would like to hear the threats accompanied with what caution you ask of me. Being.

My inevitable death? A stroke of madness within all I love? The fall of our society?

An army of generically pretty clone babies?

Oh, you meant personal threats?

I doubt that would actually happen. Has it ever, outside of fiction?

Well, yes. You could say they give me some sort of thrill.

I'm thirteen and entirely not interested in giving you thrills, Mister. Did you have to introduce yourself to your neighbors back home? Ever met Chris Hanson?

I digress.

No one has gotten that far, but if the possibility existed? I have no doubt they would do the absolute worst thing.

"An army of generically pretty clone babies" is the opposite of what I want.

[Loki, Norse god of trolling.] You're the one who said it, mister.

You want people to be healthy and without horrible, crippling disadvantage. But you also don't want them teased for having small er- packages or strange hairlines, yes? If given the chance, a parent- a good intentioned parent- would want their kid to fit in, not stand out. They would want what makes things easier for the child. What's easiest are the characteristics considered desirable in that society, which tend to be narrow, all things considered.

Have you ever seen Jersey Shore, mister? Do you really want an entire continent of that?

lmao i didn't mean that i was offended, bra!! manipulatent January 13 2012, 04:03:52 UTC
Would it really be so awful, then? Their minds are still their own.

And what?

Jersey Shore. Or what I consider Every Other Country's Social Commentary on America. Though I am particularly fond of the Lady Snooki.

No, no, no. It isn't nature or nurture. It is both.

If they are taught to be alike is the standard, then to think or have ideas that are unalike- surely you see where I'm going with this- a source of shame as well. Bodies will conform and minds will follow.

Xenophobia. Group think. Dogs and cats living together. The horror. The horror.

Actions? I am only pondering, child.

Why would I? Evidently, nearly everyone so far believes I am some sort of "mad scientist", stroking my goatee as I plot to bring the world down to its knees.
