Now that most of the holidays have passed - and we have one asshole behind bars - I want to discuss with the network at large the idea of using the Newcomer Community Center more often. I don't see much traffic there, which is fine, but I think we can put it to good use in the coming year. Call it a resolution, I guess.
We have several rooms there, and a very large conference room for meetings, and I think we could use them for classes. I don't mean anything too formal, as most of us don't have teaching degrees and I doubt anything we do could be passed for actual credit...but we can still help one another out. I know for a fact that we could offer First Aid and CPR training here, but there's other things we can teach. I don't see why cooking, art, dance, or any of those things couldn't be offered to give people some form of experience they can rely back on.
It wouldn't be paid, like I said. We don't have the money to pay for teachers. [...Well, she might be able to scrounge up something.] But if people would be willing to volunteer and help lend a hand, and if others would be willing to take the classes...I think it could be a very successful endeavor.
I'm willing to organize it. I suppose I should mention that, too. Just let me know if you have the time and maybe some skills to actually teach a class.

One more thing. [She sighs.] I-- That is, my cat... [She frowns.] I have a litter of kittens on my hands and I need people to adopt them. Not now, obviously, but in about...eight or nine weeks? There are four of them. I can't keep them. My home isn't built for them.
