[Those shadows were terrifying and more over because they are a reminder to him. That creature she sees sometimes, even during broad daylight.]

Huh? Christmas? It's just for lovers in Japan, isn't it...?

[Good dodge. Never talking about those shadows.]

Oh, yes, in Japan. But in Canada -- and America -- Christmas is celebrated differently. Most often, families invite their relatives and close friends for dinner and an exchange of gifts.

[ It was easier, talking about an issue unrelated to the shadows. Yet, at the same time, she disliked skirting such a blatant issue when she couldn't tell just how much they knew. ]

I know. It sounds a bit like New Year.

[ For most part... ]

Speaking of New Year's...do you already have a resolution in mind? If you're planning to make one, that is.

I do. There's only one that really matters in my mind.

Mind if I ask what that is? Or will you save it for that time?

I want to go back home.

Well, that falls in line with the resolution I had in mind: finding a way back home for us all.

So, let us not give up hope, Miss Nakajima. There may be a way yet.

...You will? How...How are you planning to do that?

[ Caster takes a moment to switch the feed to Private before she answered. With a little help from someone she knew, the encryption was exceedingly close to unhackable, but she still knew better than to trust it. ]

The companies are, as we're led to believe, the only ones with the greatest access to the Core and its research. Or, at least, one of them is. If I can find out more...maybe, just maybe, there is a way.

I would not mind telling you more about what I had in mind, but it will have to be in person. Will you be willing to meet me, Miss Nakajima?

[ How stupidly careless. Youko realizes that. But she doesn't know how to encrypt very well, she lets Miss Caster do it for her. ]

I get it. We can't trust this medium, can we?

I'm afraid not. Anything said through her is, inevitably, a risk.

But, I'll admit. I do prefer my conversations in person, with or without the secrecy. The NVs are a fine way to communicate, but...it lacks the same feeling as seeing someone face to face.

[ She gave a soft chuckle. ] I may just be old-fashioned, but that's just what I think.

It's ok, Miss Caster. I could stop by your apartment later. If you like...

That's up to you. Do you want to know?

[ In this case, Caster didn't exactly have a set preference, until she decided whether the girl had use for it. ]
