Ahhhhh~ Good ol' December. Crisp air, precipitation of polygonal ice crystals, holiday cheer all around!

[There's the sound of something metal crashing to the floor as he says that, and with a wince the Doctor is putting down his NV and rushing just out of view for a moment, fiddling with and fixing whatever it was that crashed down before ( Read more... )

I'll take harmless Christmas trees for five hundred, Alex.

Ha!

[And in his best game show host voice...]

Onnnn Christmas Eve in the year two thousand and five what homely apartment complex housed the wonderfully handsome, intelligent, and brilliant defender of the Earth?

[Oh, getting a bit rude again there are you, Doctor? Homely? And hey, wasn't that her unofficial title?]

What is the Powell Estate? [Eyeeeeebrow.]

[The Doctor, stealing identities for all of time!]

Correct! Fifty points to the Tyler House. [He lets out a burst of laughter, then, before quirking his eyebrow even further up towards his hairline] Not gonna come and see our tree, Miss Tyl-ah?

Oi, that should be five hundred, Mister. [Not that she's keeping score or anything.]

I suppose I could... [Consideration face. But oh look, she's actually back from her outing already, toeing the door shut behind herself.]

Ahaaaaa, no. See. Its five hundred for an extremely correct answer. Unfortunately, you said nothing of the courageous champion of Earth.

[But then he's up, snatching his Sonic and pointing it at the main light switch as soon as he hears that door shut, switching off all the lights and putting a little bit of a motion sensor on the little Christmas tree.

So when Rose wanders her way into the main room, she'll be setting off the myriad of lights he hadn't quite shown off to the network. All blinking off and on to the sound of jingle bells echoing out of the Sonic underneath the tree, acting as a power source of it all.

And suddenly, voices are going to start coming. Voices of her mum, of Mickey, of Rose herself and of the Doctor. Their first Christmas dinner together, all that time ago. Stored in the memory portion of that little screwdriver of his. And all the while, he's just leaning against a doorframe, grinning like an idiot.] Well, whaddya think? Too much?

[...Hadn't those lights been on in the video feed? Ah, no matter, where's that light switch-- Oh. Don't mind that yipe, she's much more collected than that. But she certainly looks .. brightened, by the influx of lights and sound. Rose might still like a traditional tree for the holidays, but this wasn't exactly turning out to be a traditional way to spend it.

The Jingle Bells addition is a little creepy. If only because the homicidal tree they'd had two years ago (at least in Rose's case) had sung a cheery tune. It's the sound of voices, though; her own, Mickey, Mum, even the Doctor-- all pouring out and she's sure it sounds like that last Christmas together.

He's gonna make her cry again one of these days. For now, there's just a tug of a grin pulling across her face. She can hear him before she sees him.]

Maybe a bit...

No imagination, you! [But with a laugh and a crisp clap, the lights are switching back on, the Christmas tree fading back to the little glimmer of the tiny lights on the metal contraption itself.]

Crossin' my fingers for a relatively peaceful present day, all things considered! No regeneration, no alien spiders, and no Titanic.
